Can you post pictures? Even if you are using the lower mark the OT mark will still line up perfectly...

Wondering if the belt is not right honestly but that's the second one from the dealership, and I haven't seen anyone say anything belt related... cause I'm literally off by half a tooth, and that can't be, even if I messed up a sequence it should at least throw me off by a tooth..

Are you using a gates belt? I've encountered a problem before with gates, doesn't line up.

Contitech, but doesn't the Contitech come with different pulleys than the stock ones on, and isn't their belt fitted for their upgraded pulleys

Go contitech. Dealer doesn't stock parts for 30 year old cars, they supply (if at all) with aftermarket.
Edit. They do stock OEM parts, but we are concerned with a rubber belt.

Just cause I want to make sure I don't need the Contitech full kit, and can just use the belt on my stock pulley, cause I heard that could make a difference also, you know better

Ah, yeah I just checked the PET so engines M44.01-02 (1982-1985.1) have flywheel number 944 102 051 00, while M44.05-09 (1985.5-1988) have 944 102 051 01. I have an 85.5 and 86 here and I didn't remember seeing that mark, but just went out to check two '86 engines that I have on stands that had it too. So I just missed it, I mostly just go by the OT mark anyway. That said, his '84 won't have the notch since it should have the early flywheel. Thanks!
