What size Allen key to remove late power seats?
Subject says it all. I must remove the seats in my late 951 to replace a bad power switch and would like to know what size Allen key I'll be needing.
I understand it's quite easy to strip these bolts, too. |

The proper wrench is in your tool kit that came with your car.

But since most cars today don't have toolkits... (where do all those tool kits go anyways??)
believe (95% sure) it is a 6mm, could be an 8mm Ball ended-hex wrenches are your friend geting the bolts out Your Mileage may vary if someone has replaced them with a non-standard bolt AFJuvat

Just an update on my power switch replacement. The driver seat was stuck over the seat rail allen bolts and would not slide back due to the broken switch, so the bolts were basically inaccessible.
One thing to note if this happens to anyone: the seat rails have a hole on the top side about a palm's breadth from the front of each rail. I took a leap of faith and slid the seat farther forward until the holes were directly above the allen bolts and was able to undo them. If I hadn't been able to, the car would have been undriveable because the seat bench was literally below the dashboard... All's well that ends well, but I thought I'd pass this tip along in case it happens to anyone. |
