I slowed for the next light, a guy stopped who saw what happened and asked if I was looking to get killed. (I think I replied no, but I was still a little speechless) It was not as if I wanted to be stuck in that situation, it just happened.
Most of the time when one is driving and aware and concentrating on what they are doing these sort of instances don't happen. I have noticed this while being a passenger.

it doesn't make some things any less avoidable
sometimes definitely, but not always
I've never been caught intentionally speeding because:
I have severe anxiety, only absolute focus and concentration gets rid of it, if your life is even slightly at risk a person is never more focused. I am never more aware than when I'm speeding, slowing for every possible risk, including the buicks, impalas, and taurus's (and so many more) that the cops use
but in any case I really do wish that 48 mph got me going like 110 does, I would be perfectly happy zipping around at 48 with my heart pumping, adrenaline rushing, and my mind perfectly clear and focused.
It just doesn't work that way!

sheesh... this is all crazy stuff... I get scared if I go 10 over (which I never do) cause I am afraid of getting a tickey. I can not even afford to get a ticket, those things are expensive. I figure I will just drive slow and save up the money I would have spent on tickets and go to a DE

You are severely misinformed, my friend. My girlfriend is a lifelong sufferer of clinical anxiety disorder. Focus often makes the situation worse. The only cure is medication, for the malady is the effect of a chemical inbalance.

Get some Effexor, then maybe you won't have to drive so derned fast...

how would focus make something worse, it clears the mind.
and what's left is only the task at hand.
I know all the vitamin - chemical junk
anxiety is just focusing on too many things
focusing on one more thing would seem to only complicate things
but it doesn't
that is how people conquer their extreme fears
just like OCD, obsessive compulsive disorder
I had it for a long time and by the 7th grade I was sick of it. my problem was that my limbs had to be even - every time I stepped on a crack with my right foot I would want to step on a crack with my left so... when I got the urge to step on one with my left I would step on one with my right until the urge went away. and after a while I no longer had the urge.

and I write weird because I was once a writer - and I'm crazy.

you missed the operative word: OFTEN. Maybe you are a rare case? It might work for you, it might not work for others.

and what kind of 'writer' were you? published? or just for fun?

Just curious... i am working on my Masters in English, and am nearing completion of my first novel

Personally I get bored of driving if I am not speeding at least a little. I just took a road trip out the west coast and drove highway 1 for the majority of the trip from san diego to seattle. Up until this trip I never had a speeding ticket, which i find quite surprising for a 20 year old who drives a 944, but on this trip I took the 02 Z28. When I was in southern Oregon going through the mountains on a 2 lane highway I was stuck behind a guy going 53 (in a 55) which drove me absolutely crazy. When the next passing zone came up I threw it into fourth and layed on it around the guy and got back in front of him just as the next curve started to see a cop staring right at me. Yeah I definately got my first ticket going 81 in a 55 (only if my na accelerated from 53 to 81 in a little over a second), but I have to say I find it to be total bs that the cop was sitting right at the end of the small passing zone clocking people who are passing. Isnt the idea to have the least amount of lane exposure possible? Well that plea didnt work the the officer who just said if you need to go 81 mph to pass you shouldnt be passing... and oh yeah got another ticket 3 hrs later with the EXACT same senario doing 80 while passing. So needless to say I dont think I am going to be driving through Oregon again any time soon... and if I do hopefully it will be in my na where I cant hit 80 in a second while passing.
