key code?

How can I find the key code for my 944? I tried pulling the pass. side door handle as that used to be how to find it on my old VWs... well first of all I couldn't pull the door handle as there's some linkage attached to it, but as far as I could see there was no code stamped on it anyway. Can someone tell me where this is hidden, if anywhere? I'd like to get a new key made... I only got one with the car and it is badly worn.

thanks,

nate

Assuming the locks are all the same, contact Porsche with your VIN and proof of ownershiop.

They can cut a key based on VIN.

why not just take your existing key to a duplicator?
...unless it's so badly worn that a copy would likely turn out just as bad...

more key questions. the 88 944 i just picked up a few weeks ago came with two old copied keys yhat only fit the passenger door and ignition. they do not work the remaining locks so i'd like to get the key code to start off with a solid key set then maybe take the the other lock cylinders out to a lock smith to get rekeyed.

any other suggestions?

Most likely the drivers door handle was replaced. There are places on the internet that sell both door lock sets with new keys. Not sure on the pricing, I think they are around $350. Depending on how much Porsche wants to charge you for the 1st key set plus the locksmith rekeying the drivers door, it may be more cost effective to replace the handles.
