I have this weird kind of dream to have a 924 winter car. Seriously.

It would need to be a white 924 with a Martini paint job, front bar, and Hella rally lights. The tires would be studded, of course.

Something like this:

Of course, Schumi, I know you are talking about more than just a cosmetic replica. :)

I think the hood scoop to nowhere could be placed on the opposite side feeding an intake, hopefully people wouldn't notice it being mirrored. Favorably it would be feeding a 951 engine's intake....

Think Carrera GT body and front end with the lindsay racing 951 nose panel molded into the front....

thats been done before, theres a old pics of a blue n/a running that setup.

with the scoop on the normal side can you fit an oil cooler in there? that was where i was going to move mine from the front of my 931 to.

Hi Chaps,

Got the car checked out. It is a Genuine 924 Carrera GT, that has been neglected over the years. It was sprayed a tacky pearl white and front seats and steering wheel were changed. Car was originally black. Original owner was the Porsche dealership. Has had about 10 owners over the years, who did not quite realise the significance of the car. This is what I found out from one the Porsche old timers here.

I had to buy it, going to bring it back to its former glory. The important bits are all there, all correct panels, wheels, intercooler. Financially I should not be taking this on as I am in the midst of restoring my SC, but hell, you only live once.

I will post some pics soon. Thanks for all your help guys.

:)

Wow congrats what a find, you only live once is true.

Sell the house the wife and the kids, there must be enough space to sleep at the body shop restoring it for you!!!!!!!

Pictures PLEASE

Good for you!! You can't let an opportunity like that pass!

Lets see some pics

Excellent, congrats!

CJFusco 04-27-2007 05:57 AM

Yes, it sounds like a good find - almost like a barn find, except the car has been driven.

Schumi 04-27-2007 08:07 AM

1UP for barn finds. Man I would have loved to have found a CGT.

My car was a 'barnfind' of sorts. It had been rarely driven and had sat in a garage under a cover since new. Only pains were that the rubber was getting 'ehhhh' around the sunroof, side trim, etc.

CGT's are rare. I hope you plan on a full restoration. They are masterpeices that need to be preserved.

Hi Chaps,

Few snaps, could not get the door open this afternoon, and could not get any pics of the engine.

Here are some of the exterior.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers
