89 S2 struts
The front struts on my S2 are standard Sachs {i think!}
Question being do u have to replace the whole strut or do they have removeable inner dampers? Thanks Mark |

You have to replace the whole strut. You can opt for Koni sport inserts but you will have to physically modify your struts. There is information on the WEB how you can do this and Koni expect you to do this way. This will be your best bet if you want to stay with standard setup and also cheaper then trying to get S2 Sachs unit that will cost more then 400 (200 pounds) each.

Here's my original post of the project with detail pictures:
Weekend Project Pics - Koni Inserts It's actually not too dificult and took me about 5 hours. You'll need a spring compressor, hack saw, and basic tools. The Koni's came with directions but they are very difficult to understand (their translator could use some more english classes). The guys at 944online.com didsussed the entire project with me before I attempted to "cut" anything on my car. Vern |

That sounds too cheap. A good set of front struts should cost at least $100 ea. Maybe the $135 only includes the labor but not the actual cost of the strut insert? Better check to be sure.

You can source them in the UK near your home I think. Here is a link
http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?cls=ROAD&pcode=KON8641-1414S&app=Y But it works more then 135 $ each. |

Here is the link for the actual struts:
http://www.*****************.com/product_p/koni-8641-1414s.htm Here is the link if you want Paragon to actually do the work for you, Yes it's $135 for them to do it. http://www.*****************.com/product_p/koni-8641-1414s-conversion.htm Koni struts are way more then $100 each. For Paragon to do it there is also a core charge as well so you have to send yours back to them. You are better off getting the inserts and doing the whole thing yourself. It's not that difficult to do and as said above it can be done in less then 5 hours with a saw & drill. You dont need a welder to do this. Very simple. Here is the link to do it yourself: http://www.tech-session.com/kb/index.php?article=36 I dont see the Koni insert for the late struts on Pelican's web site, not sure if they carry them.

Call or ask them. That's the best method to know for sure.
With the value of the dollar right now you might be better off buying them in the US then accross the pond. Should get more for your money.
