Speed &Ref sensor spacing
Hey guys, Just finished installing my spec stage 2 clutch (pics later) I started to play around with gaping the speed and ref sensor. I have some quetion I hope you can help me with. I am running a Spec lightweight flyheel that only has one pin for the Ref sensor which I believe is ok. The question is How do I get the pin to stay where I want it once I adjust its hight? Lock tight red? Also what should I adjust first, The pin or the bracket for the sensors? Im a little confused on the process, ANyone with experience on this and the lightweight flywheel would be a great help. Thanx

I used an allen head screw tightened all the way to contact, then adjust the sensor as needed. The hight of the head of the allen is real close to correct, maybe a little taller.
If not using allen head, red locktite

That pin needs a permanent thread locking compound regardless. You don't want that thing to come loose after it's all back together. Just think about what it would take to repair if it did come loose. It would probably damage the sensor as well.

Well the hight of the screw is way off, The flywheel is slightly smaller in dia. then the stock one, SO it seems like it needs to come out about a half inch or half the screw sticking out. The odd thing is it seems that when the sensor hight for the screw is correct, THe hight for the other sensor that reads of the starter gear is wrong. I dont know, I gotta play with it for a while and clear my head, Im sure Im just being stupid LOL. So should I use a nut too or just locktite red

Seems to me that it would be better to modify the sensor bracket to allow it to go in deeper. IMO, you could just grind the bracket down and then shim as needed
I just don't think 1/2" out would be good because of the mass, maybe no big, don't know about that I had to adjust one sensor higher than the other also here is that link no start 944

Cool. Tnporsche nice write up, it gave me a idea. So I played with it a little more after work today, IF I go and set the hight for the Starter gear sensor then the sensor bracket is to high and I run out of screw for the screw sensor. Soooo what if I use copper washers (shims) to shim up the starter gear sensor, thus allowing me to move the bracket down and being able to adjust the set screw correctly. Sound like a good idea???

No, I have a tool to check clearences that I got from a rennlist member "sharky" It does the job.
