Where/How to rebuild/refinish calipers.
So the calipers on my 92 968 Track wh0r3 could use some freshening up. They are in good working condition but take a good bit of heat and the paint is not looking so hot.
I have heard that there are places out there that will refurbish and repaint them and return them to me in pristine condition - but I cannot find them via Google. I have also read the threads on doing this myself - and it seems easy enough - but I would love to hear any new stories on the process if you would like to share. Thanks for all the great posts. Tom, just do it yourself.
The key here is that the original calipers were anodized and then clearcoated, not painted black like a lot of people think. Get some aircraft stripper and a soft wire brush and get to work. I would take them off the car for this. Once you have them cleaned up, simply spray a few coats of high temperature clearcoat, and you are done. Keith Before:  After:

Take the caliper off. diassemble Use break cleaner remove residue Good time to replace boot and seal Tape the sensitive areas Go to local PEP boys, etc and choose a color, red, black,silver. I like to use high temp clearcoat too. Reassemble Get a new spring clip set Remove the caliper plate from the hub Media blast to remove crud Paint the plate using the same caliper plate Reassemble Good time to check wheel bearings. Good time to check rotor Good time to replace brake line with ss

All I did was clean them with brake cleaner, sand them a little, and used some military grade black primer...stuff is bullet proof, sprayed them and put a high temp clear coat on them, then I took a 3M buffing pad and buffed the Porsche logo to a shine...the question is...do you have the later style 968 Brembo calipers that have the Porsche sticker on them ? I had to replace my front calipers and bought some 968 ones, they came with Porsche stickers
 ...thought they were knock offs at first
