Installing the Koni 30 Series Race Rear Coil-Over Kit on a 951 and surprise-surprise the right rear passenger-side coilover interferes with the transmission oil cooler line (coil). Is there a quick solution for bypassing/rerouting/replacing the transmission oil cooler line?

Can you use some kind of fitting (like an "L" fitting) to route the oil line out of the way?

The way I see it, you will need to fab two fittings that matches the transmission oil cooler ends with standard 1/4" female NPT threads to adapt regular brass flare fittings to be able to install a 3/8" by-pass copper tubing.

If your not already, use a 2.25'' diameter spring in the back. Its still a tight fit, but the cooler loop can be tweaked slightly by hand to clear.

Thanks bazar01, basically we followed a bypass approach similar to your suggestion as a quick fix for this Sunday's autoX. The trans oil cooler's fittings are 5/8" OD which seal against O-rings retained in the transmission inlet and outlet ports. Took 1/2" OD soft copper pipe and sweat soldered two collars at each end made from 1/2" ID - 5/8" OD Type L rigid copper pipe. Bent the soft copper pipe similar to the cooler at the rear of the trans, and bent it in a S-pattern around the gas tank and into the side of the trans. It came out great. The O-ring seals are holding-up nicely - so far not a drop. Parts less than $10 at Home Depot and Ace HW. Temperature-wise the trans should be fine for the next two autoXs, but we may look for an improved solution with additional cooling for the next track event.

Thanks TD, we are using the Koni 30 Series Race Rear Coil-Over Kit. We may look to tweak the cooler loop for our permanent solution. We didn't see how that would come close to clearing with our first look.
