Early Rear air filter box bracket

Hello. Does anybody know if there is a difference between a early rear airbox bracket and a late model bracket? I cannot seem to get the bracket to line up correctly as it sits too low.

I removed a rather hokey cone filter the po installed and trying to put the stock filter back in. I am thinking I may have mixed and matched early and late model parts somehow.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for all the pix. I messed around with it a bunch more with no luck. The airbox bottoms out on top of the alternator and the rear Bracket mounts are about an inch and a half lower. I can't adjust the height of the bracket as it's welded to the chassis.

The po raced the car and deleted the AC. I am wondering if the alternator was perhaps moved?

what kind of bracket? the AC delete brackets available put the alternator down lower, maybe they left the stock bracket on, with a shorter belt, but not short enough n had to move the alternator up higher on the factory pivot, to get the belt tight enough.

Here is a picture of the alternator I took a few days ago. The whole car is in pretty rough shape which is why I got it so cheap. The compressor is missing along with all of the belt turnbuckles. Is this the stock mount for the alternator?

The cone air filter system that came with the car when I bought it was mounted really bad and was almost hanging down into the alternator belt. The breather line for the timing belt cover was gone and clogged with gunk. The cone filter and AFM (cover was missing and exposed to the elements) was kept up by a long bolt that they had mounted thru the wheel well. A total hack job to be sure. This is why I decided to remove it all and replace with the stock airbox setup I purchased on ebay.

I am in way over my head on this car. The interior was completely missing (headliner, carpet, everything) but I almost have that reinstalled after collecting parts for months. The car at least runs and shifts ok but still lots left to do. sigh.

Look closely at my cone filter pic you'll see the breather from the timing belts cover, rigth in the back of it there is a bracket, that is what is missing on your's the rear of your air box is connected to this bracket & I agree with you it is a mess you got a pinch hose & another one witch is almost worn rigth througt that will have to be replace. I really think you should go the cone filter way with this it will be less work & there'll be more space if you want to work that side of the motor, don't get discourage do a little bite a the time it's not that bad the motor seem to be clean at least it's not cover with oil ,clean all the hoses & connector before you reinstall.I will also take the front timing belt cover off & clean the inside it must be full of gunk to. If your not up to frabricate your own cone filter brakets there are not that expensive & usualy very easy to install, also make sure your AFS is in good shape before installing keep use post as you go.

cauzomb was right. The PO just left the stock bracket on and got a longer belt and its maxxed out. The tensioner was missing as well. I bought a real AC delete bracket with belt on ebay along with a tensioner which should solve the airbox mounting issue. Thanks for everybodys help on this.
