I may have figured out what is causing "rough" startout.

I've been having this issue since I've owned the car (951S, < 2years). I've replace both axle shafts and the LR wheel bearing, to no avail. The issue is that upon start out from being at a stop, noticeable when front wheels are straight, or worse if they are turned left, there is a "rough" feeling as the car starts to move. But maybe is better to describe it as sort of a "crunch".

What I have been noticing lately is that, if I watch the front corners of the car as I start out, the right side lifts noticeably higher than the left. Also I am noticing the right side is going up and down more than the left when going over bumps or dips in the road. After throwing that symptom in, it now becomes evident that it is a shock/strut issue. And it narrows down to either the right front one, or the left rear one, or both. I think the LR one could be checked by removing the lower mounting bolt. But with such a big spring on it, how would I go about determining whether or not the RF one is good or not (they are the yellow koni's)? Also, is there a "lazy man's" way to test the rear one, without having to take out the bolt?

if your just wanting to test your shock's all you have to do is bounce the car on each end/side. if it sits and bounce's up and down after you push then the shock is worthless, if it goes down and sits normal after coming up then they're still good.

Well, it looks like the RF one is definitely much looser than the LF one. That coincides with what I see the front corners doing when going over bumps or dips. Definitely need a new one there. Although both back ones seem to react about the same, the RR one has a bit of a "knock" sound when going down, and also when coming back up. Does that automatically mean that it has lost a significant amount of it's damping capability?

Also, Can any1 tell me whether or not the top plug on the strut is threaded in (removable and replaceable, using a spanner)? I have tried turning the wheel so I could see it using a flashlight, but I still can't tell. If it is, I will just install new cartridges in both of them.
