I just recently replaced the hatch seal in my 83 944. I washed the car today and, like before, I can still see water dripping into the rear hatch area on the passenger side. I did a search in the archives and most solutions involve messing with the drain tubes. Well, I don't think this has anything to do with the drain tubes. There is a rubber seal of some sort on the hatch itself. Is this "seal" replaceable? If so, what is it called? I need to isolate this leak because I will be gutting the interior of my car soon and replacing the carpet and seats. I don't need the new carpet deteriorating because I didn't fix the leak. I can actually be sitting in the car and see the drip in the rear. The water is getting in between the hatch and the new seal. What gives?

Sounds like your glass popped out of the frame somewhat (it is a common problem).
There is a trech article here that tells you how to fix it cheap (if you are brave enough). A glass shop will charge you a few hundred and Porsche will charge you $1400 for a new hatch. If the glass has just popped a little, and all you want to do is stop a leak, you can quick fix it with black silicone. AFJuvat |

A while back I purchased a hatch/glass re-seal kit from 9XAuto. My glass repair shop has the kit in their possession. That was actually my next step. Let's hope that stops the dripping. Thanks!

There are many used 944 hatches out there. Most will sell them for $200 or so. S&H can be a b-tch though.
You can try to reseal or purchase a good used hatch and sell your frame to some one who wants to do the plexi-glass rear hatch. Eric
