Your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to go out and thrash those tires in all kinds of inclement weather and road conditions, and report back here your impressions.

I've got those Contis on my daily driver and I'm a big fan of them. Had I realized they're available in sizes smaller than 17" I would have suggested it.

Thanks for everyone's input. It certainly helped with my decision. I'm not sure I would have even considered the Continental as I have had no prior experience with them. I have had Goodyear's before on other cars with disappointing results. A prior '86 n/a 944 I owned had BF Goodrich Comp T/A's that had a tread separation problem and I didn't see anyone mention a BFG tire so I didn't even look at them.

Again, thanks for the input.
Thanks for listening...
Hope to hear your feedback after a few Autumn mountain runs on the Conti's..

First trip on my new Continental's.....

The trip was an 80 mile roundtrip jaunt from Hayesville, NC toward Franklin, NC on NC Hwy. 64 East. The ride up into the mountains is an easy one with long sweeping curves and some long straights (100mph on one). The tires performed well. They were smooth, stable and quiet. Handling was fine in those conditions. Nothing extreme. I'll try some roads with tight twisties next: "The Dragons Tail" on NC129 North out of Robbinsville, NC and/or GA129 South out of Blairsville, GA over Blood Mountain toward Dahlonega, GA.

It's time for new tires since the date stamp on mine shows 8 yr old. Glad I ran across this thread, I'll prob get the contis as well. I have been happy with the Potenzas that are on there currently.

If you want to do the Dragon to check it off your list, then have at it. There are so many roads in the tri state area that are much more satisfying to drive. There are so many idiots on the dragon, that I refuse to ride it anymore. Last time I was there, I stopped to talk to one of the commercial photographers along the side of the road, he showed me a pic he had just took of a Miata completely in the opposing lane in a blind curve. Anyone coming in the opposite direction would have had a head on collision with that idiot.

Any feedback on the Bridgestone RE760 sport tires?

I quit going to the Dragon years ago. It was a great place at one point. No cops, very little traffic and mostly sport bikes like I was riding.
Then it started getting in magazines, car clubs started showing up, the owner sold the motel/gas station, they built a club house, got a bike shop, photographers came, cops set up stings and you couldn't get a clean run in for all of the people and or constant wrecks. I started racing after that.

Since I live about 45 minutes away and frequently have various days off during the week I can make a quick run up there without all of the weekend traffic. Another nice ride will be the Cherohala Anyway.

i hope those contis are better than any of the ones i've had. i had the touring contacts ont he 325 and HATED them!

i had sport contacts on the M3 and HATED them!

i have sport contacts on the SL550 and HATE them!

no traction, noisy, and unpredictable. downright dangerous in the rain.

i had 760s on the 325 and they were ok. a bit hard, and therefore rough riding and tramlined a bit, but not nearly as nasty as the contis

I went way cheap with Fuzion ZRi's, not enough miles on them to know how good they are just yet.

The Cherohala Skyway is an EXCELLENT road! one day I'll get back there with a p-car - as of now I've only ridden my CBR600RR07 on it, and I have to say it's a blast! The dragon is fun (and cool to have BTDT), but thanks to all the traffic, I'd rather hit the skyway any day...

Anyone try Sumitomo? One of the tire stores around here recommends them. He said they are owned by Dunlop suggesting they are the same technology for less expense.

They're terrible tires. Avoid them.

Thanks, for the input. Care to elaborate on what makes them terrible?

No grip, don't last long, noisy and ride badly.

They're not cheap enough to justify the tradeoffs, either.
