83 NO START STRANDED Quick reply?
Hey all my new to me 944 an 83, died while I was driving, I tried a new DME relay that I had, and nothing, pulled a wire and it is arcing, the Tach does bounce and it does build oil pressure when it cranks, it just cranks and cranks, with the old relay it fired ran a little maybe 2 seconds then died right out again. I just towed it to my shop, any input or ideas are appreciated, could the fuel pump just go like that? I have the 924S to drive still so the 944 can sit for a little while

Thanks JR I'll give it a shot, think maybe I can test the fuel pump with a volt meter?
I wouldve never thought about the FPR, perhaps when I got on the high way the FPR built up pressure to keep up with the high RPMs and then didn't lower when I started cruising... I'll have to give that a peek.

Early 944 owners have more under dash wire problems.
Clarks would suggest to clean the fuse contacts, grounds. Wiggle the DME 35pin plug and wires to see if there is a bad connection. A cracked ignition switch is a possibility and cheap to replace. Pelican Parts - Product Information: 111-905-865L-M5293 Clarks has the DIY info GL John

"I tried a new DME relay that I had, and nothing, pulled a wire and it is arcing,"
That's kind of important. Elaborate? Don't dig too deep too soon.

you should always check the flywheel sensors if you have a no start with the engine turning. Look to see both ends and give them a wiggle, one at a time if you can, to see narrow your search for the bad part. Allways remember... look for the most simple answers when trouble-shooting 944

Do you have any problems with your battery box leaking? Mine was leaking and I patched it up. However, after having a no start problem just like yours a few months later, my DME was ruined due to the inevitable water damage that occurred when the BB was leaking. May be worth a check FWIW.
