Depowered my rack. So much cleaner under the car. Not a DD, so not much worried about the inconvenience in parking lots.

How much work is involved in de-powering the steering?

smudo,
I just got similar short shift from only944. I also got the adjustable, monoball link from that part to the trans body.

my car has some short shift that is similar in overall design. but expect this one will be tighter as the one I have has rubber bushing on the link.

and I am waiting for this to arrive to complete the system

did you just remove the pump or install a manual rack?

I am considering that, as my car will primarily a DE, but street legal.

on the flip side, I plan to rebuild the AC.

Took it on a day trip.
Ran up through some twisty, Santa Cruz mountain roads. FUN!
Then went to Monterey for some Clam Chowder and Caramel Popcorn.
First road trip. Aprox 180 miles round trip. I pushed her hard and she didnt skip a beat

I just purchased my 85.5 on 2/14 , and yesterday I buffed, polished, glazed, and waxed the outside of the car to get a good shine on it, and installed new sunroof wind deflector hinges, and cleaned and conditioned the leather seats, as well as cleaned up the rest of the interior and changed my old torn shift boot for a new one. It was a busy day!

It didn't necessarily need all that polishing, but I like to do that on new purchases as a "get to know you" for the car anyway.

Nice! What did you use to condition the seats?

Just the standard lexol and a leather scrub brush. I don't feel like it really did anything for the seats besides get some dirt and junk out of them.

After this week, I think you should open a post titled, "What did your car to to You today?" I'm ready for a scotch. After taking my rotors off to do a total brake rebuild, I found that two of my rotors that were ordered on ebay and titled "Rear" were in actuality front rotors. So now I have 4 front rotors and a car up on jacks. Oh, by the way, I sold my restored Nile Green metallic N/A to buy a BMW which my wife doesn't want so It's for sale. Separation anxiety got the better of me so I found an '86 944 Turbo on ebay in Illinois (Texas car) for cheap so I bought it right away. Now the fun begins. I spend a day checking wiring connectors only to find that the inoperable power mirrors had been replaced and not wired in. Then I found the Distributor cap wasn't secured on the bottom screw so I secured it and now the car won't run. More parts on order. Decided to fix a supposed O ring seal in the Transaxle oil cooler only to find that someone buggered up the plug in part of the cooler line and That's a hard to find and expensive part. The only thing that's gone good so far was TireRack purchase and installation of new tires and finding a great rear hatch that's not delaminated a two hour drive from here. I know that's not a "day in the life" but I NEEDED TO VENT!

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Chad, did I see you driving through Newnan today? I was sitting at a light on Farmer St and Bullsburo when I saw a 944 similar to yours heading east. It definately caught my eye because the only other car I know in town besides mine is an early 944 with gold bbs wheels.

I decided to attack the inoperable wipers on my 924S track car; chance of rain this upcoming track weekend in Phoenix. So, pulled the motor to bench test it, works fine. Removed the wiper relay, and took it apart, looks new. Removed turn-signal/wiper setup, nothing out of the ordinary. Hmmmm, put everything back together, still didn't work. Looked at bullet fuse #11 for the wipers, hmmmm, sorta corroded. With the key in the run position, and wiper's 'on', gave the fuse a twist. Works. Dumb and dumber then laughed and drank a bunch of beer! Job done.

So after the front of my 944S2 bottomed out and dislocated the top radiator rubber mounts, the rubber mount retaining bolt punched a hole in the top of the hot side plastic tank.

Bummer.

I tried the old JB Bolt and weld fix, but the plastic of the tank itself was so worn out after 30 years of heat cycles that I could practically push a drill bit through it by hand.

So instead of hundreds of dollars for a new one, this is what I did, courtesy of a local Sun Valley alu welding guru. Cost less than $200, done in 48 hours.

The other (cold) side tank is just fine, so there wasn't any need to replace that part.

It pressure tested just fine so I put it back on the road today, we'll see how she holds up.

Now to work on that weak front suspension!

Well, the repaired rad is working fine - the temp indicator sits lower now, though, so I might have bumped something or set it out of whack when re-assembling.

Also of note, I finally installed FR Wilk's 944S2 chip this morning.
All I can say is that everything is as advertised. I love it!
I did notice a lack of response from idle up to 3.5k before, that's all gone now. Feels like it should - a linear power response up until 5-6k, tailing off a little to the top end 7k mark, but not a lot.
Lovely!
