hatch seal question

Do an amazon search of "car door seal" or car weather strip etc...OR click on this link

Amazon.com: car weather seal

would this work on the hatch, I'm almost convinced it will work on my 944 hatch and a fraction of the cost(first search result)

don't want to pay $60-100 for a simple seal, tell me what you guys think, lots of positive reviews on a variety of automotive and marine applications.

I have no experience with this product. However, its use could be interesting. The one that you came up for me on Amazon is on;y 1/2" wide. I went to the manufacturers website and they also make a version that is 19/32" wide that maybe better suited for the need.

For around $8.00, it would be worth a try.
MDTeam.com

And this just pisses me off.

Our host provides this forum and you are directing people elsewhere. Well, Pelican has the same OEM seal for $30 less with free shipping.

Uh, you mean ~$40 more? ...
That stripping doesn't look like the same shape to me. The seal snaps over the hatch metal ring. You're giving me flak for talking about a cheaper solution yet also posting to another site? Hypocrisy

Hop on over to 924board and search this up there - look for a post by me, as I think I mentioned a part number for a genetic seal. That said, the OEM, proper, seal will last for years. You get what you pay for.

IMO the design of the hatch/sealing and latch system leaves a lot to be desired I wouldn't fit any rubber that isn't the correct section .

That adhesive-backed seal won't work at all. You can waste $8.00 plus shipping, or you can buy the real thing for $104 and have it last another 25 years. The latter is the better value per dollar.

For a steel-core pinchweld seal of that length and bonded together, $100 or so is a reasonable retail price in this market, Porsche or no Porsche. I've been scouring industry suppliers for a close match to a NLA seal for a different make of car, and quality seals are expensive.

When you buy the real part from Pelican, it will be one big loop (the ends bonded together), and will be too long -- DON'T CUT IT. Do everything you can to make it fit. Scrunch it up, especially around the curves at the top and sides. They shrink and shorten over time, and the extra few inches are there to compensate.

Right, whether you go with the Porsche from Pelican or Kyle's (also high quality) seal for $60, it's going to seem too long. You have to like, massage it tighter on the bends so to speak and then it fits!
