Procedure to replace fuel injectors in an S2?

Does anyone have a write up ( preferably with pictures ) on how to replace the injectors?
I have to replace the one closest to the firewall...

Thanks!

Its easier than you think. Unbolt the fuel rail from the intake and gently wiggle the rail until they walk out of the intake. Stick some towels in the intake to prevent anything from moving in. The injectors are held onto the rail by square clips that pop off easy with a small flathead. Then they pull right off the rail. Some gas will dribble out too, be prepared for that.

The seal kit from pelican comes with the o-rings and plastic bushings you need. Everything literally pops on and off by hand. All you will need is a small screw driver and a pick for the O rings.

When you go to put them back, the new plastic caps for the end hold the O rings in place. Lube the rings and push them in using the rail back into the intake. Its a 1/10 on the difficulty scale for sure.

400th post!

I implyed that if you are replacing one it would be smart to go ahead and get the rebuild kit and replace the O rings and bushings on the other three. It would be a pointless excersize in my opinion to try to just remove one single injector.

Bradical makes a good point. I think it's best to have the injectors flow-matched, meaning they all produce equal pressure/spray

That too! Thats not too terribly expensive to have done, either.

Just a heads up - the injectors for a '89 - '90 S2 are different from a '91 S2 and most vendors list only one injector for all S2s. You can read more at my for sale post here: Fuel Injectors for 944S2 + Tech Info

Thoroughly clean where the injectors push into the manifold. You don't want dirt in the holes.

Kill your fuel pressure by letting it sit overnight or any other method and disconnect your battery. Have an extinguisher handy just in case.

As noted above and try not to twist the injectors when inserting them and make sure they are seated completely when installing the rail. (Don't use the rail mounts to push the rail down)

Thanks Guys!

As an fyi I did have the injectors removed and cleaned by Witchhunter but when my "mechanic" went to install them he botched the one closest to the firewall. I found out on the first out lap at the track!!!
Anyway there was a real mechanic at the track who was able to diagnose the problem but didn't have a spare injector there so I ordered a new one and hope to do the install myself.

Thanks again...
