Replace late model ignition switch

I am about to rule out an ignition switch issue and realized that the clarks guide to replacing this does not cover the newer cars. Does anyone remember seeing a write up on how to change out the ignition switch in a NON 924S/early model?

It's pretty much the same. Two screws at the back of the switch you need to remove.

The best way is to remove the steering wheel and instrument cluster an access that way. Ask me how I know. You must use a very short screw driver to get the screws loose as there is only a couple of inches of clearance to get at them. A phillips screwdriver bit in a 1/4" socket with 1/4" drive ratchet was my weapon of choice. If your car has an airbag, disconnect the battery. On second thought, disconnect the battery anyway when doing this procedure.
