I'm like that naturally too - though I have been working on that ... I have a very strong belief in freedom ... freedom of expression, thought, speech, doing whatever the hell you want with your life. I take serious offense to being told what to do. So I get what you're saying here. On the other hand ... you have to play in the sandbox ... and play well with others. I'm not immune to this, I almost got my ass banned when I was fresh on RL.

I met a few 928ers here in San Diego and hope to meet more. Even Mike (among others) came to my house to try and get my 928 started.
I will be in San Diego soon. Let's have beer. If Mike can make it down, I'd like to meet him also.

Spoken exactly what happened to me. New guy, trying to promote my website. Ok by one but not the other. Crash bang slam kapow!

The Beer Meeting sounds great. Let us know when you'll be down and I'll try and coordinate all here in SD and Mike.

I think you'll find that with time, all wounds are healed. Rennlist has undergone a total management change. I was happy with the old management (as I was able to learn the rules before being toasted crispy like you) but the new management probably couldn't give a flying fig about the old beefs that were had with you/Mike/whoever. I invite you to check in with them and see what they say, I suspect they will welcome you ....

I'll be there the weekend of the 4th. I know that is a busy family time, but if you guys are around ... let's buy each other a few rounds and talk 928!

It's only an hour and 26 from San Diego to OC ... maybe I can make a trip out there too. Always wanted to see the area.

Just remember, that's optimal time travel. There are traffic times that could be much much longer. OC is a straight shot on Interstate 5, but traffic happens here in SoCal.

I thought of that ... but I'm interested in exploring the area anyway ... we'll see what can be done. I've never been down that far South - so I expect it will all be fun. Sitting 2 hours in traffic may be less fun for me OR Mike.

Yes, the traffic in SoCal is like no other I have ever experienced. Once I sat for almost three hours and moved only a few miles. As soon as I got to an exit I got off and went to a restaurant to bide my time. After eating I could see that the traffic had not subsided so I just got a hotel room and started my drive North again in the morning. Nowhere else on earth have I seen such madness. I would never be able to take that on a daily basis. The San Fran Bay area traffic was bad too but nothing like SoCal.

Have fun in Cali.

Yup, this is exactly why I am so glad I moved further South. Los Angeles County traffic is the worse. San Diegans have no clue what real Heart Attack making traffic is like. I always dread even the thought of driving anywhere in LA County. I am sure life expectancy is lower in LA because of the stress. Well, besides the daily Drive-by Shootings

You have no idea how frustrating Danglerb's posts were, 2 years ago, on Rennlist. Many were in fact deleted by the moderators. Either way, It doesn't matter. What I see here of Danglerb doesn't in any way come close to resembling what I saw 2 years ago from him on Rennlist.
Heinrich, we'll have to agree to disagree when it comes to your comment about " the 928 enthusiasts on Rennlist are you and the 928 enthusiasts on Pelican are us". IMO, the Pelican 928 forum has similar demeanor/mentality as the Ferrari Club of America I belong to where people are tolerant of each other and are simply there to share their love and enthusiasm for the cars, not to mention are patient with trying to help newbies improve their knowledge/learning curve. The Rennlist 928 forum to me is the equivalent to the Ferrari Owners Club "FOC as I refer to it" whose members largely consist of "power hungry" people who need to fuel their egos at the cruel and inhumane expense of others, which is why I occasionally lurk on it and have not become a member.

And yes...all groups are going to have some a-hole or "off the wall" members, but Rennlist seems the club that specializes in them and fosters an environment that allows them to thrive. The threads I've read on Rennlist contain far more hate and suppression than any of the threads I have seen on other Italian, British, or German car forums I partipate in.

In closing, I would like to see this thread "locked" as it is apparent that the opinions of many Rennlisters can't and won't be changed, making this thread a waste of everyone's time and energy.

I believe what he was saying is that we make up the forums. It is what you make it. You can make it better, you can make it worse or you can let things remain the way they are. It is entirely up to each and every one of us.

As for having this thread locked..... why?

We locals have our ways of getting north or south quickly, taking the 15 instead of 5, toll road system, but mostly its knowing the traffic times and avoiding them. Devilinblack has been trying to get some of us SoCal 928 owners together for a couple months, even going to the trouble of scheduling the meetings on amateur accordion night, but a much higher percentage of our 928's are currently running than a few months ago.

I waiting to hear from admin@rennlist.com, looking at old threads to pass the time. Gee some of them did get heated.

I really appreciate the kind words and support.

The last time I checked this was a 928 technical forum that is suppose to be fun and helpful, not a political forum filled with trash talk

No, I'm not privvy to the history so thank you for shedding some light on the purpose of this discussion as I now understand this thread is about healing instead of a stirring up a heated debate that could potentially dividing different groups of 928 enthusiasts further

Group therapy for 928 owners is part of tech support. Most of us would be screwed without the rest of us helping, so anything that helps the community helps us all.

Some jungle advice, Just eat the noodles. Skip the threads that don't interest you.

In my defense, the accordion thing was NOT planned. I was just trying to set up a monthly dinner for anyone that wanted to show at the local German club's bar/restaurant. The nights I picked just happen to coincide with some local accordion clubs informal monthly gathering. Moving the first one to Hooters actually worked well but the girl I was seeing at the time made it clear she was not a fan of Hooters and would not go with me to any future events I scheduled there. She's no longer an issue.

I posted on RL about trying to set up something between LA and SD, but I would certainly make the trip to SD if Leo or anyone else puts something together.

As for visiting OC let us know what you're interested in seeing/doing and we will figure something out.
