A/C not blowing cold

I ( my mechanic) recently installed the A/C compressor belt because the previous owner didn't have one or took it off?? I don't know why it was not there, but I bought it and had it put on there.

Anyways, is the next step to take it to an A/C service station to fill up the gas?

I'm guessing that you tried to run it and it's not getting any cold air from the vents? Correct? You could take it to a good A/C Shop, but with our cars, it can be other things not functioning too. Bad Actuator Diaphragms can cause a vac leak and not trigger the heater valve to shut off, which would cause hot air to come out your vents.

I guess the first thing is to tell us exactly what you have tried once you put the belt on and then we can try and troubleshoot. Also, put the year of your car in your signature or something.

If you run the compressor and it has no freon or oil, it will not be any good very quickly.

Don't hook up the belt until you can test the system.

If the system has lost pressure the AC repair guy is required to find and repair the leak prior to adding more freon (except to test or something).

If you don't mind waiting some of the local guys have AC test gear, and it can be tested out etc at one of the get togethers.
