here is the videoPicture003.mp4 video by EIPtuningR32 - Photobucket

after i made the video i checked the timing (at idle) and the mark was paybe 1/4" - 1/3" to the right of the check hole in the cover.... i adjusted it and it is now running a little better, but still has some "rich" sounds to it. like the popping and stuff at idle as shown in the video. any ideas? how to i lean the fuel mixture? (i know, i feel as if some of my respect around this forum just disintegrated as i asked that)

ill link a better version of the video when vimeo is done with whatever it is doing.

I wonder if you have pressure issues stemming from defective fuel pressure regulators and dampeners?

When the vacuum diaphragm goes bad in these, fuel is allowed to be sucked into the intake along with the metered fuel/air thus causing all sorts of problems. Pull the vacuum tube from each and see if fuel spills out.

You've got three regulators, one of them is a dampener.

The dampener is right over the water bridge, front end of the engine. The other two are on the back side of the engine, left and right. You can see them because the fuel lines go through them.

That's what I thought. Your CIS. You can adjust A/F with a long 3mm Allen Wrench.

I think I show the adjustment process in this video I made to show Mercedes Benz Injectors Installed.

I have a warm start problem with my CIS. The accumulator doesn't hold pressure. It sounds a lot like that when I first start it...mine comes up to pressure and clears out however. It may be a pressure issue. I would put a gauge on it to rule that out immediately. The good thing is it's all mechanical, you don't have a bad "brain". I would start with the basics cap rotor plugs. probably could use a tune up by anyhow. Make sure every cylinder has good spark. In the process you can see if you have any lean or rich cylinders by what the plugs look like. After I knew it wasn't spark related I look into the fuel issue, if you found that the pressure was ok I'd look into clogged or dirty injectors. Did you say it's been sitting? If it has, is the gas fresh?

928 intl can help you with good used parts and they also have a good economy plug wires for inexpensive. Also, your sponsor here (Pelican) have a good supply of new parts for our cars.

I actually use their Parts Diagrams for part numbers.

I'm not there, so you take this for what it's worth---

if your K-Jet is suffering with what sounds like cam lope, I'd start with vacuum leaks.

many years ago, in a galaxy far, far away.....when I first bought my Euro it had the same issue.

cause: intake manifold boots had huge holes in them and were swelled out like pumpkins.

cure: replaced the boots and all was well (except for the 7 busted pistons that came along later)

you can adjust the flapper (causes it to go lean or rich) in your K-Jet by turning the allen screw just in front of the fuel distributor, but that's probably not your problem.

you could also get a CIS gauge kit to check fuel line pressures and such. Warm up regulator is another issue for CIS.

They look good to me except #1 & 3. Maybe a leaking Injector causing a rich condition. Doesn't look like oil so seals and rings would be fine.

You can replace those 2 injectors and just do all with the Mercedes ones and be done.

CIS injectors spray all the time like a garden hose...so they are always really leaky They could be dirty however resulting in a bad spray pattern an not allowing complete combustion.

How old is the gas?

Is the plate that controls the injector flow operating though it's entire range?

You may also have a bad coil that breaks down at higher rpm's too. (do you know anyone local you could do a quick swap with to test?)

just throwin out idea's here, a condition like that can be almost anything

the injectors do need attention, i plan on getting the mercedes ones, but Summit is out right now, so i am going to wait until they get their restocking shipment in.

the gas is two days old. In two days, i have gone through half a tank, is this normal? I have driven maybe 60 miles tops....

i have no idea what you are talking about when you refer to the plate that controls the injector flow... are you referring to the fuel distributor?

I know of no one local that owns a 928, much less one that would lend me a coil pack.

I have basically the same car and problem as you. Mine is running like poo also. No power under load but when it gets going I can rev it way up(tach not working) as long as I'm not going up a hill. I am getting no alternator power even though I have a new alternator and battery. I have been through the whole pod and gauges(checked bulb at voltage gauge) and the issue still persists so now I think I'll go after the" bad blue wire from alt to 14 pin" theory. I see that yours is charging good. When mine gets the revs up it makes a rapid staccato popping from the exhaust and kicks in like a turbo. I think this shows me how it's supposed to run when all is well. Mine also drinks the gas like a tank. 10MPG but I think it will get better when I get it running right. Gunar

haha, i wouldn't use mine as a benchmark. its a heap of junk. the only reason why i am not selling it and buying a good one is because i am a hard headed fool who wants to set things right on my own. the interior is HORRID. Nothing, and i mean nothing, electrical works on the car, except the brake lights and turn signals. anyone know of someone that can COMPLETELY rewire a 928 or has in the past that could lend me a hand?

anyways. i have those same wheels... whats the story behind these things? how much are they worth?
