New memver introduction

Hi all,

I was looking for a new member introduction section and may have missed it so I would like to do it here. Owning a Porsche was a childhood dream of mine. I liked the looks of the 944 and even more when they put in the turbo. Like others I had plenty of toys but that changed with the mortgage, kids and other family expenses. Ownership of an '87 944 turbo in red with black interior with about 64,000 mi occurred 4 years ago. The car gets about 2000 to 2500 miles put on before it goes into winter storage. I'm anxious to get it home for another season.
When it comes home I plan to go into the cruise control using the info from previous postings. Mine works most of the time and when it acts up it engages, the throttle opens up and stays open until you shut it off with the lever or touch the breaks. I will also search for problems with the water temperature indicator. Mine is very "bouncy" and will peg up and stick in the hot position. A tap or two on the dash will free it up and it gets steady after about 20 miles of driving. Figure I may need to pull the dash and clean/check all the terminals and grounds.
Over the years I've been lucky enough to own and drive a rather long list of cars including muscle cars, Corvettes, trucks and beaters. Hopefully I can add some of my experience/opinions to this forum. I'll post pictures soon.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post, UncleRay

Hello "UncleRay." I live in Bloomington, MN. Just wondering if you have gotten involved in or are a member of the Minnesota region PCA, if not I would recommend you check out Nord Stern. I have been involved in some club activities the last few years but just recently became a member. Sorry, I have no advice about the cruise control.

I'm not a member of the local PCA but the car has a PCA sticker from a former owner. I'll check out the link that you posted.
Meanwhile "LOL" I did the spell check thing before posting my original "memver" introduction but it must have missed the title box. Oh well...
Spring is close, thanks for the reply, UncleRay

welcome man, sounds like you need to pull the cluster and clean some grounds on the back side of it...its easy though, as long as you have a little patience.

Great information. That is a whole lot better than trying to figure out how it comes off and breaking something. I've been there and done that too many times. For peace of mind, I had the water temperature checked at the shop last summer and verified that the car is not overheating while the gauge was acting up. I'll rest some more when I have confidence in the gauge. Appreciate the help, UncleRay
