951 & 951s computers and injectors

Since I'm selling my turbo setup and returning to stock I'm thinking about converting my 951 to an S. Are the computers interchangable beside the pin count? And are the injectors the same?

Yours is a 24 pin DME, the TS is a 28 pin DME. KLR's are basically the same, but with a different chip in each.

Injectors are all the same.

Cheers, Keith

Computers are interchangeable. They switch to the 28pin DME somewhere around 88, so it is possible that you could have a 28pin DME - if yours is a really late '87.

Yep, injectors are the same.

KLR is the same - very slight differences in chip, but nothing of any consequence.

The switch to 28 pin DME happened in the '88 model year, not '87.

He should have a 24 pin DME.

What he should have and what he has are two different things...
The only way to be sure is to open the DME and check.

Your turbo would be a k26/6. The S cars have a k26/8 with a larger hotside. The S cars also had larger intake valves in the head.

No - the Turbo S had the same size valves. The '89 944 S (non-turbo) had larger intake valves.

Not from what I understand. I haven't had my head off to compare but was told there was a difference.

Lol, well believe what you want...
But the turbo S head is the same as the turbo - only the 944S had larger intake valves.

What's written in the shop manual or some tech bulletin is that the Turbo S exhaust valve has a slightly smaller boss or neck on the valve to improve flow at the very high end of the RPM range.

That being said, Pauerman has measured both valves and told me that they are pretty much the same.

Cheers, Keith
