I’ve had half dozen air cooled 911s over the years and I still have a 86 930 and a 96 993.
The 993 has to be the best air cooled model ever put together, not quite as thrilling as my 930 but overall it’s the best!

Finally dropped the engine out of the ***** Box. Hope to begin the rebuild soon.
Although I will argue the 964 is the best not the 993 for both N/A and turbo variants   looking forward to determining why the engine is supposedly stock but is pumping out 275bhp and 40 additional foot pounds of tq over stock. That is until someone other than me money shifted it. Happy Holidays everyone.

Wow 2 years and not much has changed. Engine should be back in the car in a week or 2. Life has a way of adding more projects. This was pushed off to the side up until a month ago.
  The entire car is being reworked. New SSK I hated the numeric. Heads were redone and case inspected. New Aasco retainers and uprated valve springs along with guides and valves repalced and seated. The damage was minor but had 2 badly bent valves from the money shift. New rubber seals as the rear windows were leaking and all sorts of stuff like fire suppression, Chillout and new seat. My son will be club racing this if he gets his act together. Meanwhile my twin turbo engine has stalled do to a signal issue we are having. I can do everything but tune a car and without a signal from the cam sensor installed it runs nicely but can't be tuned properly.
