C4 engine out: what else should I do?

The engine in my C4 is coming out for a new clutch and to fix some oil leaks. While I have it out I want to replace everything I can. Besides the DMF does anyone have any suggestions?

How many miles? Did you do a leakdown test?

Thanks Bill.

Steve, No I haven't done a leakdown test. It is a 1991 C4 with 60k miles. There is at least one active oil leak that is dripping somewhere on the exhaust. I can smell it a few minutes after I start it up. I took it in and was told there are 5 oil leaks.

Think about replacing the insulating pad while the engine & tranny are out. There are some nice looking mylar coated ones out there for under $100.

Power steering belt would be good. Alsp t/o bearing cross shaft and needle bearings. Have a good look at the t/o fork ears for abnormal wear.

Scrub clean the input shaft splines clean as well. With sandpaper, clean the ground strap that bolts to the lower starter mounting nut. Same for the positive lead connection at the starter. These measures more for preventive purposes.

Now is also a good time to correct any oil leaks local to the oil pressure sender at the front of the engine. Hood shocks?
