Also - if your plug boot has been wire tied it has more than likely been done. I found that whoever did mine removed the protective sleeve from the wiring loom but never wire tied the plug plus the boot was ripped exposing the wires. Apparently, the exposed wires can cause electrical interference to the DME which in turn can cause the car to run erratically. I believe the wiring plug was modified in 1992 so earlier models need the update/fix. I assumed that mine had been done but decided to check it after occasional hesitation problems and found it was not properly fixed. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the link and information. I'll review it and see if it applies to my stalling issues. Where would I go to find any TSB's for my car. I'm sure I'd find allot of useful information relating to improvements or fixes.

I seem to remember a link on Rennlist for a site where you can by them for about $100. It may have been Aldata.com or cardata.com

I will have to see if I can find the link.

I had the same experience as SAM D.
Bought a dme relay - Not the issue.
Bought an OXS sensor - Not the issue.
...
Read the comment on Pg1 from bazar01... BINGO!
The second comment - 1st item mentioned "Ignition Switch"!
An electrical connection had built up resistance and was not supplying power to the switched power component (ecu). I cleaned up the ignition switch wires replaced some wire + new connectors = voila! Im on the road again...

Hi guys,
I'm new here, I have a '92 C2 and was having stalling problems- the car would idle so low to the point where it would stall, eg coasting into stops, or just stopped at lights. I did, however find an easy fix that worked for me, cant guarantee itll work for you..
I removed the Idle Speed Control Valve ( ISV, ISU, ICU, etc whatever its called) - the small cylinder located at the centre/ top of the engine bay. Cleaned this out with carburetor cleaner, it was full of black gunk. AFter replacing the ISCV the car hasn't stalled once, idle is perfect at ~800-900 rpm

good luck, hope this helps!

Hi guys, sorry for bringing up such old post, but I've recently suffering a very serious stalling after steve wong chip.

Have tried unplgging the idle sensor and put it back in, doesn't work for me..
replacing the spare DME replay, doesn't work..

the engine will stall at any time after the chip installed, even at idle.
accelerating doesn't help because it will want to stall and causing kangaroo petrol, I can see the dash board lights gone on and off while the car is moving, if the speed is too slow, it will definitely stall.

Any ideas on this folks?

Arthur

engine stalled

hi guys not been on forum for a couple of years(car running great)until today, went for a drive after about 15 miles leaving motorway on flyover engine cut out and wouldn.t start, thought i had run out of juice but as i was walking to a garage 2 miles there and back i thought NO because no juice and the engine would splutter but put some in anyway, after 1hr 20 min traveling time to the garage i tried to start and it ran !! packed everything up and drove off puzzled that i didn,t believe it was petrol after about 600 yards it cut out again and wouldn,t start so after trying many times the battery flat, called out the breakdown recovery and he tried with his battery power pack and still no joy, the car is now in a compound until after easter.
i have read the forum related problems but not to sure what to start looking at first, a good systematic procedure would be helpful advice ta
