Rebel, I just found this thread. That is one intimidating vehicle you've put together. Nice work! Enjoy!

Hey guys. Checking in from Australia.
I just read through this thread from start to finish. I signed up just to say that this machine is awesome. Absolutely love what you've done with it mate. And knowing that you put in 90+% of the work yourself is incredible. It's making me want to do a Rauh-Welt based widebody unit and cramming a dry sumped Individual Throttle Body LS motor into it. If you weren't going Twin Turbos I'd definitely recommend going to a Harrop style ITB manifold. The throttle snaps on nice and quick and the motor definitely gets up and goes. That said general drive-ability can be affected depending on the tune but that's the same on any modified car really. Couple pics of my car. It's no Porsche but it's got a ITB LS1 to have some fun with (and I can tell you it's a lot of fun haha) Cheers guys http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1351255561.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1351255595.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1351255620.jpg |

My life experiences taught me to respect other's opinions... unless putting a 3.2 liter twin plugged 911 adds $20,000 to $25,000 to the value of my unbranded, no warranty, DIY garage build that I do not plan on selling I am happy buying a $1,500 engine that is 80 pounds lighter and putting $2,000 in to bump it up to 700+hp. Yes a flat six is cool to hear and look at but my project, my car, I can't be wrong if I am the customer. This customer wants max power with the incredible grassroots looks of a 911 with just enough changed to get a second look. If you plan on out bidding my current customer, with a deposit, I will be happy to build and put in a flat 6 twin plug for you. SmileWavy I forgot I am not the only ass hat messing with 911's old or new. Yeah mate. Utes are an Australian icon. No different to you guys and Pick-Ups really.
The manifold is a Harrop Hurricane unit. Here is a direct link to it. The manifold on my car is slightly different (has larger inlet runners among other stuff) as I am led to believe it is a prototype unit. I didn't fit it just purchased the car with it. I know they have done some dealing over in the US as I've seen pictures of a couple of Corvettes running the Hurricane. So if you were inclined you should be able to get one. Not cheap though. They are around AU$4000-5000 at the moment depending on the version you buy (LS3 and LS7 versions are more expensive. Haha thanks. My car is a Holden VY SS Commodore. Comes standard with an LS1 and a T56 6 speed. Mines copped a fair few mods (as can be seen) and it currently makes around 445hp at the wheels. Those are old photos but it looks a little bit different now (has coil-overs so it's lower etc.) but they were the best pics I had lol. |
Pulled over again... 2 times in a month but no tickets. Just ended up talking about the car.

I'm guessing operator error more than the equipment is at fault as are most issues ;)

My buddy is trying to get the dash cam video for my traffic stop. The officer told me he had to watch it a few times before coming back to my car and sending me on my way.
very nice Officer, could have gone down another road... |

No ugly slantnose, please. That would be awful. Like grafting a 914 nose on the car. It is beautiful as it is. |
A thumbs up to you on your build!!!!

Thanks.
A nice cruise with other Porsche's. the guy 2 cars back sent me these. I also found out today a third generation Viper SRT-10 looks good in my rear view mirror. http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/v...5/IMG_3777.jpg http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/v...5/IMG_3795.jpg http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/v...5/IMG_3815.jpg http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/v...5/IMG_3812.jpg http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/v...5/IMG_3810.jpg http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/v...5/IMG_3806.jpg http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/v...5/IMG_3802.jpg http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/v...5/IMG_3787.jpg |
Well with a far better power to weight ratio I've no doubts you'd be able to leave a Viper in the rear view Rebel.

The Commodore wasn't sold in the US until the Pontiac G8 came out around 2009 or so. And that was a later series of Commodore (VE Commodore) My specific model car has never been sold in the US. |
That thing looks awesome. I'd suggest building an aluminum duct between the hole in the front bumper and the one in the slam panel. It would make the front look finished. I think it would great in natural aluminum but you could also paint it. Either way, that needs to be finished. But that thing is truly excellent work.

Just to keep my build thread up to date (I posted on another thread):

That CarreraGTP dude is a purist. He can't even admit that a non-running 928 could be improved by putting an LS1 in it. Search my history. I had a hilarious go around with him. He thinks LS engines' are antiques. He has no idea what he's talking about. Awesome car, again... Hal |
So - a year later - any updates? How has the car performed for you over the last year? Any new mods?
|
wowzir....just came acr0ss this and wow....this will take up some more of my time while i read up on it, looks really cool.....
