got my air box completed today. not particularly elegant but will do for now, i also ordered a lightweight interior from appbiz today. should neaten that area a bit and help remove a few pounds of weight.

working on the exhaust this week. most likely will use Hushpower pro series mufflers. space is very tight and i hope to have drivers side fabbed up in a couple of days.

I'm in...

Picked up my LS1 last Sunday. Ordered my RH kit Wednesday. I can't wait to drive my car! I've had this thing since October of last year and the most I've done is sit in it and listen to the stereo.

got the flowmaster hushpower pro series mufflers mounted and with hangers. still have to complete the tubing welds for the exhaust after the headers. the muffler housing is 6 by 16 inches with 3 in and 3inch out. should provide ample quieting of the exhaust without being restrictive. i did have to relocate the Mezziere electric water pump due to the headers. Renegade Hybrids incorporates a very nice mounting into their engine cradle but i had to nix that. most likely will mount the oil cooler between the front of the engine and the rear spoiler. there is plenty of room and should be ample air flow...fingers crossed. i will mount the thermostat to the cradle framework and the lines will be very short. still have to remove the engine and do a few more things in the engine compartment. but, the primary reason is to remove the 930 transaxle to send to Gary Fairbanks for rebuild...

pulled the engine and transaxle out this afternoon. this is what the engine minus the wiring and fuel lines, etc. looks like as a package. talked to fairbanks about the transaxle refresh and hope to get it on the way tomorrow. really neat and lightweight package for 700 plus crank horsepower on 91-93 octane!

got the transaxle boxed and delivered to the UPS store for shipping to Gary Fairbanks for rebuild. i was surprised that the transaxle minus the drive flanges, mounting carrier, and the clutch fork mechanism and of course trans oil only weighed 112 pounds boxed to ship. and i also discovered after years of shipping at this store that Triple A members get a 5 per cent discount...which amounted to $5.71 on the shipment which aint bad!!!

I'm trying to keep my drive by wire setup. I re-ran and re-wrapped my harness keeping all the servo and data wires in the ecm to run it, but now that I have the manifold reversed I'm concerned that I don't have room for the throttle body against the firewall. Has anybody used this setup? I'm thinking of making a 180 pipe to reverse the throttlebody and position it on top of the engine. Any thoughts?

Renegade hybrids has an adaptor such as you are describing. it places the air cleaner back over the engine. i did not wish to do it as such so i cut a suitable hole in the firewall and put my air cleaner in the back seat area.

took a bit of a vacation but now back to the project. it is amazing how much time is involved especially when changing so many things. got the oil cooler and rear coolant lines in place. i am using a ruf yellowbird rear bumper/cover with slots and am hoping to have suitable air for the oil cooler mounted between the bumper cover and the engine cradle. the mast motorsports oil pan is made with the oil line attachments in place on the pan which makes it really easy to attch a cooler.. finger crossed on the oil cooler location.

starting gauge wiring. per wrong information from mast regarding their ECU the Ecu does not provide a signal for oil temperature nor fuel pressure. Livorsi could not match the bezels on the two newly ordered gauges but they could replace the bezels on the other three gauges to be like the new ones...yeah confusing! so at least i have all the same bezel/trim on the gauges and matching red led backlighting. the two new gauges only have 180 degree sweep...not happy about that but what can you do. still got to wire the gauges but had the original plan worked all i would have to do is hook up 5 wires and plug everything thing together which would have been really nice and simple. oh well!! still have to find a suitable location for the GPS speedpmeter antenna...most likely centered on the package shelf in the rear. my rear window is lexan and should pose no problem for GPS signal. the speedometer and the tachometer have the ability to digitally display several functions..

looks very clean indeed.

Is that engine really 700hp? not a typo for 400hp or something?

I'm sure it's tight underneath but have you thought of a cross-over between the headers and mufflers? Might help make a bit more power? We used to add that to our V-8s in the 60s and 70s.

yes i thought about that. but for now i am not planning on a crossover. i was hoping to have room for some of those fancy electric cutouts but they are probably out. might in the future attempt a crossover.

working from the rear of the car, i started replacing the original interior with a lightweight interior. still got to paint the GPS antenna and put the white signal wire into the wiring harness in the rear. after some discoussion with Livorsi i decided to mount the antenna in this location under the lexan rear window as opposed to under the sheet metal of the front compartment. still have a bit of tidying up on the rear. and, as i stated in an earlier post the air intake box is not very elegant but it is functional!

i have been busy with lots of small jobs and a couple of larger tasks. i finished inspecting, rebooting, and of course regreasing the joints and reinstalled on the axles. replaced the attaching bolts with the stage 8 locking bolt kit and reinstalled in the car. i got the radiator hoses run to the front. i put oil in the motor yesterday and just bumped the starter and the motor turned over a couple of times...making progress! since the mast motorsports uses a seperate wiring harness to and from the ecu there were several wiring things to deal with. and the livorsi gauges required major wiring behind the gauges to hook into the proper systems. the gauges are red backlighted and the digital readout portion of the gauges makes for an interesting dash. fans are working, electric water pump, and the fuel pump as well. i removed the original heater and air controls and radio and installed a rennline lower dash piece. this contributes to the overall very spartan interior. any ideas on something to place over the rennline emblem that says porsche...maybe custom made. i also ordered a leather redye kit for my somewhat faded fitti e3 steering wheel...that might be a good july fourth project. i most likely will put a dash cap on to eleminate the air vent on the dash...if they are available. i am working steadily but it does take some time and especially if you are picky!!

cleaned a bit of dust ...many years of accumulation from beneath the dash and installed the driver side pedal board. got lucky i suppose as all i had to do was trim just a very small area to clear the drive by wire pedal. when i built the console on the front wall to mount the pedal arrangemnt onto i just figured that i would adapt the pedalboard as necessary. fortunate it seems!
