question
Hi Larry,
First of all, the car sounds amazing!! My question is that, does the interior get too hot due to having the radiators in front? Many Thanks. |

i have not driven much as of yet so i can answer that question as to the 930. i do however have another 911 with a sbc engine and i have had it for several years. it does have a tendency to heat the cockpit. however, i took certain percautions with the 930. the trick is to isolate the heat from the radiator and not allow it to migrate away from the radiator enclosure. if you can insulate and capture the heated air it is possible to keep the heat away from the cockpit..otherwise it becomes a real problem..most likely i will redo the radiator shrouding much as i have the 930 and hope that the heat can be controlled..

Larry,
What is the fuel capacity of the 930, and also the capacity of the one with sbc engine? I know you haven't ridden the 930 that much, but what fuel mileage are you expecting from her and what is the fuel mileage you get out of the full thank from the blue Porsche? Many Thanks! |

the fuel tank on both hold approximately 18.5 gallons. i have never checked the mpg but i would think the blue one gets 18 to 20 and might expect about the same in the 930. both are very lightweight cars and the 930 gearboxes have relatively tall final gearing.

reenforcing the v-eight conversion to me...needed an alternator for my sbc...not the ls7 conversion. Five minutes to remove...twenty minutes to autozone and back...and ten minutes to put it back on! and best of all a replacement alternator for 45.00 dollars with a lifetime guarantee. not bad, not bad at all for a maintenance item on a 585 chp engine!

Hello Larry,
I could not find information about the head cylinders on your Ls7 engine, I am very interested to know more detail about them. Many Thanks! |

if you go to mast motorsports site and click on cylinder heads you will see a listing of availability.. part number 510-309. this is the complete and assembled head assembly.

Totally agree, I finally hit my 1st 3K miles on my LS2 swap and needed to do an oil change while at the same time change my plugs. All items stocked on the shelf @ Advance Auto and job took less than 1 hr, probably took me longer to jack the car and waiting for it cool down before i slid under.

after rebuilding the pedal cluster and replacing the clutch cable i finally gave in and sent the flywheel, clutch, pressuree plate and throwout bearing back to Kennedy Engineered Products for testing. i could not get the clutch to freely disengage. Monty from KEP just called and the pressure plate diaphram was cracked. it was all new stuff and was covered by warranty. thank goodness as i did not have any other possible answers to the problem. hopefully i will be ready for the street again...soon!

yes the GPS speedometer does provide odometer and a trip odometer as well. the darkened shape area is the digital readout. same for the tachometer which can digitally display several engine functions as well. seperate switches provide for function and mode changes to those gauges.

I'm not a fan of these kind of swaps, but this one looks very nicely done. I think the reason I'm not a fan, is having seen too many ugly butchered hack jobs. Bravo on taking the time to do it right.
The only thing I'd do differently is flip the radiator the other way and exhaust it out through the hood, like the RSR. You'll get better high speed stability that way, since all the radiator exhaust is now above the car providing downforce, instead of under the car providing lift. ![]()

yes i thought about that but my hood is aluminum and i just did not wish to modify it. i do have a stock hood and there is always rhe fiberglass ones. i might look into that in the future. i had considered splitting the flow...some out the top and some out the bottom so that the top opening would be smaller. thanks for looking in!

I have another couple of questions for you, if you don't mind. What did you do for the parking brake? Can you post a picture of the center tunnel from the shifter back? I always admired that shift tower but I've never seen it used in a street car - only racers. Thanks, Hal

i do not have a parking brake. removed long ago. i did try an inline valve to lock off the rears but removed it as well. might try that again. the 11.4 compression of the engine seems to hold really well...so i have not worried to much about it and south carolina does not have an inspection system. a couple of pics with the Hargett shifter for shifting..

just cranked the car up for the first time in several weeks. i had the motor and transaxle out for a clutch problem..KEP stage 2. according to monty at KEP the clutch diaphram was cracked and not releasing the clutch plate all the way and the clutch plate was dragging on the flywheel. it feels right now and the Hargett shifter shifts into gear very smoothly. hope to hit the road this afternoon for a few miles...and while i was down i replaced the fikse fm10s with fm5s. i wanted a five petal wheel pattern. im just not sure that i want to leave the centers polished. decisions...decisions..

Lin,
That's fantastic. Thank you very much. I guess I need to read the inspection stuff for Texas. We have inspections but it's possible it isn't required. And, of course, there are no hills in Houston. I'll setup a build thread when I finally get started. I'm going to try to collect all the parts before I start so as to minimize down-time. Unlike you, I only have 1 Porsche. ![]() H

took the car out for 20 miles of various traffic conditions and all seemed well. it was 60 degrees when i was out so it was not hot. temperatures ran at 180 or a bit above. too cool for a real test. oil temperature ran at 190 degrees once the oil had heated. the engine pulls really well even though i just putted...got to break the engine and clutch plate in for a few hundred miles. i can tell that the car will accelerate quickly. a couple of adjustments..program the fuel sender into the ecu so that my gas gauge works properly and develop the heating and defroster systems off the radiator shroud. neither of these will keep me from driving.
