I just got back from a trip to Germany and every Porsche I saw was a Cab or Targa. The "needs to be a coupe" thing is decidedly an American market thing.

Wow! That is cool news hot off the German mentality. I trust what you say because I lived in Costa Mesa for 3 years, went to college there, then So. California college across from the fair grounds. So if that is German preference or even tolerance, you'd think the Americans would get a clue?

Fixed it to what I’ve been saying for years. Get out of this little mud puddle and the world looks at them very differently.

Too cold in Canada for either! My father born and raised there said to me many times as a youngster born and raised in NV USA, let me tell you something about Canada! Canada sucks! Mind you he was from Saskatchewan, a bitter cold place on a small family milk farm.
I'm a Canadian citizen now since last year, so I'm not as biased or experienced, yet better you keep a coupe and hopefully the heater hoses aren't rotten or leaking. Apparently Germans like those cabs and targas. The scenery must be pretty nice there. I've been to Germany so I understand the reasoning. Don't get me wrong though, I've been to Canada may times and it is a beautiful country! It's my country read DOB on my citizenship certificate. Can't wait to get back there now that I'm a home boy. ![]()

I can’t speak for why coupes are valued more in the US, but I personally like the rear lines of the coupe better from purely an aesthetic standpoint. Doesn’t necessarily make them more valuable, just my personal preference. And cab and targa people may find their car more appealing. And they wouldn’t be wrong.

Years ago I was looking at cars at a quality car lot with mostly German cars. I came across a nice pale yellow Boxster but it had an automatic!!! I told the shop owner, what the heck??? He said he was upset with his buyer because people want a stick and that car will just sit there on the lot. So kind of the same thing. Another fine shop in San Diego gets in air cooled 911’s mostly cabs from time to time . Says they can’t get coupes.

I'll stick with my cab Ruf BTR III in yellowbird yellow with the six gears. If you see me on the road, just wave. If it's not too hot (or cold) the top most likely will be down. I'll stick my hand up so you can see me wave back, after I see you getting smaller in the rear view. I gotta reassemble the car first, so don't look for this cute cab anytime soon.

Maybe most of those are destined for Germany? They want them back. They want them all back!

LOL I haven't been by recently but see things didn't get far. This past week or so I was witness to some nice low mile 964 C2's in #1 condition sell for as much as $250k. 70k mile late MY C2's sell for $100k. A low mile rusted out but mechanically sound 930 sell for nearly $80k and a 39k mile G50 3.2 that has been idle for 14 years all original paint fetch $50k. Owner had no idea what he had. A few targas bring nearly $60k and a few cabs break some new records.
Not sure what you guys are seeing but the market has jumped into overdrive and people are going bat ***** crazy spending the sky for anything air-cooled. I might have my preferences but I am around some very fine air-cooled 911's most days from Coupes to cabs and see just about every exotic daily. I see a pristine plain jane long nose done right and I have nothing but admiration for them. Still wouldn't own one but you have to love what they produced no matter how quirky.

Folks keep saying that the air cooled prices are going through the roof! I keep checking and I just do not see it. Hagerty and NADA have always been where I look along with the credit unions.

Hagerty is always way behind, like a year at least. They actually value an average g50 3.2 about $2k more than an average 964. Whatever!

You can't use those valuations for cars like these. They are laughable at best.
Use the number 1 valuation as a base price for a number 4 and then go up from there.
