How Do You Support Your Car

when you are working underneath it? Am I being too concerned about using jack stands?
I am considering this
Thanks, Tom

Jack stands under the torsion bars in back and under the front of the control arm mounts in front. Gently push on car in all directions to measure stability. Then place wheels (the ones you took off) under the car for added protection.

A low-rise or mid-rise lift will be much more useful than ramps.

I've looked at the ramps a lot, thinking these must be an inexpensive way to get under a car. Then I see the prices, and see that a mid-rise lift is in the same ball park. Mid rise lifts suddenly don't look as expensive!

I have used the jack stands under the front torsion bar mount, and the rear torsion bar cover many times. The car spent last winter that way. Very stable. no concerns.

How do I support my car?

I have to go work in a corporate office with many unpleasant people, policies, and procedures and they make me do it 50 hours week in and week out...

That's what I thought the title meant, too. Currently, my car is un-supported. Maybe the PO could make an alimony payment.

The only way you would want something like those drive on ramps is if you wanted uner the car with the suspension loaded. Seldom will that need arise unless you do alignment. And then, the ramps would not provide the features you need most, like floating wheel pads for making adjustments.

Under the TB covers or the tube in the rear.
Like the picture in the front. I don't want to screw up the alignment of the Elephant bushings in the front by using the front TB cover plate, but I do occasionally. and try to take the load on the bolts.

Can you drop an engine with a midrise lift or do they extend to far back?

Thanks,
Paul
