This topic comes up from time to time. First there comes the reminder CIS is mechanical but we all know you are talking of the Bosch MFI systems of the early motors and racers.

When I investigated this some time ago on the lines of the BMW 2002 Turbo of the early '70s I found that pump, plus the racers, was not Bosch but the rare and expensive Kugelfischer pump.

With the numerous and better options of EFI now available I dropped my investigation into locating or modifying a Bosch pump for my small bore turbo project.

I do from time to time consider using the Bosch MFI with supplemental EFI injection for the turbo added airflow. However, if you have the EFI why have the MFI also? Maybe for the sound and nostalgia of the old hardware? I have a 2.2L E MFI motor for this.

Here is a small bore turbo install. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-930-turbo-super-charging-forum/478216-73-5-911t-cis-turbo.html It is however CIS based, much like a scaled down 3.0-3.3L Turbo so not a technical achievement. Runs well and is what you would call a daily driver system.

Post up here if you continue work with MFI.

On second thought I guess this is Kugelfisher. I never realized the Turbos used 12 cylinder pumps. The normal 917 used two 911 pumps.
