Yeah, smear some moly grease on the throw out bearing guide tube like Ronnie said.

Clutch installed.

Transmission installed.

I plan on getting the motor back in the car this week!

I come here for info and to share our passion for 930's. However, I also come here for entertainment and camaraderie. The banter between Paul and Ronnie is hilarious IMO. Whenever I need a laugh, I just work the word lube or shaft into a post and I am assured of some good zingers. I see no harm.

Back to my 930...

I fabricated some hose routing for the oil breather hoses from the oil filler neck and the oil separator that used to go to the airbox. Now they are Tee'd together and routed down under the car where oil fumes and gunk will do no harm. I didn't even have to cut any of the stock hoses.

Below are some pics of what it looks like now. Also posted a pic of the view from the front of the motor with the tranny on because I like it.

Motor is in! It fought me a bit getting the trans mount bolts in because it wouldn't line up, but otherwise, not too bad. Feels good to actually have it back in the car. Now to reconnect everything!

BUTT, a question about the "trans mount" bit; Paul wasn't there helping with the engine & gearbox installation, was he?!?! And if so, what did he try to "mount"?!?!
Ronnie, you are confusing tbe trans mount with a tranny mount. Luckily, the tranny mount wasn't around so Paul didn't show up!

Fired her up tonight!
Still have a lot to do, but it felt great to hear the bark of the hooligan when it fired up.

I had to laugh at my daughters videography. Couldn't keep her attention focused for an entire minute. LOL.

WOW, that's cool Jeff, and you daughter's greeting of the moth on her hoodie, as well as her cough at the exhaust fumes and command that you stop revving the engine, were awesomely funny! Good stuff!

Yeah, I'm still laughing about her video.

Back to the car - my passenger side cam chain cover is leaking... Not sure what to do since I torqued all the bolts properly. Tried tightening them a bit more and it didn't seem to help. Ugh.

That was awesome (all parts). I get the same exhaust reaction from all family members. What an accomplishment. That chain cover will work itself out. Nice work!

Man you got the engine and transmission so clean.

I'm in the midst of a full split case rebuild of the engine for my 1983 911 race car. I don't have the patience to get things that spotless, and then if you drive the car all the work is erased in relatively short order. I just really loathe the seemingly endless parts cleaning aspect of an engine rebuild. I'd gladly pay you if you come to my shop in Jersey City and take over the parts cleaning operation.

heh, yeah the moth bit (eyes illuminated and all!) and her plea to stop were hilarity... but the cough @ the end slayed me most. PRICELESS / CLASSIC!!!

Dewdius, huge congrats!!! The side-out Hooly did sound great! That feels so damn good eh? Very rewarding after all you've done.

Hugely agree w/ Jakester on the cleaning. Makes me somewhat annoyed I'd not even considered pressure washing mine. D'oh. Yours came out spotless, mine just a cleaner version of greasy. I'm power washing the house this weekend for ahem MOTHER'S DAY so maybe just maybe I'll sneak a few blasts @ the 930 underbits heh heh.

Bummer on the cam cover... drive it and heat cycle it a bit and look again maybe it will sort itself out as Will said.

My left cam TOWER is leaking a tad after my work, so don't feel so bad... you're on the 'better' side and cover than I am! 8-/

Looking forward to your road report / impressions...

Yeah, her video is great, the car sounds good, and I'm glad that Durabilt K27 Hyflow went to such a good home.

OK, back in business after a far too long interruption.
As you know, my PP was defective, then I badly strained my hamstring, which stopped me for a while, then I went on two vacations over the past month, but the clutch seems fixed and the motor is back in!

I feel like this is deja-vu all over again with the motor install pics.

Still have a bunch of things to connect, but in the next day or two, I will know for sure if my clutch is fixed and I can move to tuning and getting it on the road in time for turbo-palooza.

Jeff,
I bet reinstalling your engine a 2nd time was easier knowing what to do. I'm sure your 2nd clutch will work correctly.

Hope to see you at turbopalooza!

Definitely went faster this time! Even remembered many of the torque specs... With any luck, I will not get any better at this than I am now for a while.

Started it up tonight and clutch is perfect! So happy!

Jim F - no moths were permitted to be in the vicinity of my car at startup, especially those with glowing eyes...

so much awesome, Jeff

moths you say, eh?

This pterodactyl with double wings smacked around my garage off the ceiling / walls a bit before settling here the other night - he did have the glowing eyes but the shots I took with those didn't come out good so this is best I got.

Freakin Mothra!:

see you in 30daze!!! ASSuming I figure out my fueling issue by then? Oy...
