Here's the exhaust we designed to compliment those merge headers with v-clamp installation. Not better just another way to go.

Yeah, I had looked at some "cans" from Burns Stainless, but ultimately went with this option for various reasons. I'm probably leaving about 6-8hp on the table, but this is an over-built street car, and I know what the motor is capable of so I'm not going to sweat it. Plus, with the vband clamps, the system is so easy to remove I can just run straight pipes for track days, etc.

Nice looking Henry!

Headed down to FLA yesterday with the little one. Swung by Mike's this morning and get'er loaded up and back on the road. It was a fun, short trip with great company!!!

Creating memories.

That's a really great looking build. I'm in the planning/dreaming stages of something that may end similarly. It's already a 3.2SS but on CIS, with unknown compression, piston shape, and cams.

Would love to hear your final thoughts once the engine is in the car and driving. I am tossing ideas around, and mainly it's EFI vs. Carbs, Twin plug, or not. One thing that strikes me is that it's a relatively simple build, using time-proven parts and methods - with 300hp. No need to re-invent that wheel!!

I really like the muffler - I have a 2 out dansk on ssi's right now and the drone has to go. Will possibly be stealing mikes ideas for that one!

The headers look nice - if only they had heat! Where are they from?

I hope to have the engine back in its proper place in the next couple of weeks. If it were not for my being so anal (my Wife thinks I'm ADD) it would probably be done. But, there have been a few delays waiting for proper color wires and correct new fasteners, etc.

I'll post a pic and and update soon. Hope to get some work accomplished this weekend.

Been bogged down with little projects (and 2 little boys, holidays, etc.), but took a big step in the right direction today. Still need to hook everything up, but it's downhill now.

I know that lots of performance modded Porsche engines use one variation or another distributor, but there are some good direct fire systems out there as well. And, with the direct fire units, there is a large range of adjustment available at the twist of a dial or thru programming. Also, the electronic systems don't have to have caps and rotors replaced from time to time. Your thoughts?

In my opinion, the biggest reason to use 12 pin dizzy and MSD is plug voltage. It's about twice that of a crank fire set-up.

Todd,

That's a beautiful engine and impressive numbers. Be forewarned though that with that kind of power the rear end will dance without notice. It's a fun dance, but the rear end will step out far easier now especially if your going to stay with stock wheels and tire sizes. Mike is hard to beat.

Well, still not running :'(

I've been bogged down with travel, family duties, the Polar Vortex, etc.

I believe I got the electric finalized with a harness for the MSD boxes (with a little help from timmy2).

Fab'd up a mount for an oil breather catch can (can wasn't polished in the online pic when I ordered.... a bit shiny for me)

But then I realized my oil filler neck ruins everything, so out came the tank to ship to Pacific Cooler for some attention. That's about a 2 week set back, mostly in travels. Hope to have it running as soon as I get the tank back though!!! Might need to touch up a few spots in the engine bay too. Anyone know where I can order a little paint? Can probably just brush it on the texture and won't be noticeable.

You ever finish setting this up and enjoy the car?

toddu 11-14-2014 03:21 AM

Yup, car is all sorted out and I've been enjoying it (not as much as I should however). It's definitely a whole different car now.
