'stich Roadcrafter & sporty bikes...

Need some opinions from 1100/1200S riders who are wearing one-piece Roadcrafters. Some background...

I currently wear a 42R one-piece Roadcrafter. It fits fine when riding standard-style bikes. But when a ride my Thruxton or even my previous Duc Monster its a bit short in the torso, seems to pull across the back and shoulders. I figure I'll have the same issue with my 1200S when I get it.

So my questions are;

Do the forward rotated shoulders & ellipses help in the 1100/1200S riding position?
Has anyone had experience with moving up one size, but in a short, to gain some room for a back protector & hard shell armor in RC? (As I said, my 42R fits about perfect, but wouldn't allow a back protector or hard armor).
I'm concerned that if a move to a 44S from a 42R I'll still be short in the torso, even with rotated shoulders & the ellipse.

(170lbs, 36" waist, 5'8"'ish, if anyone's the same size)

Doesn't 'stich do custom work? I think if I had a problem this specific with a baseline like you do (42R is perfect except...), then I'd call them and have this talk. I think they'll make you one just like you want...bet this isn't the first time it's come up either.
But then what do I know....never used a 'stich.

Yeah Eff, but only for the two-piece. I like a one-piece for ease-of-use.

That was the plan for tomorrow Bob. Just trying to get some other opinions here. Thx for the tip though

One piece 44L works for me on both positions for riding, better a little extra room then singing soprano or thinking about your suit while riding. Sending my suit in for a repair soon.

Picture attached is the melted outline of my left exhaust on my one piece , my butt did not get burnt and the suit saved alot of blood and suffering after landing on loose rock. I was face down with the bike on top of me. So glad i was wearing aerostich rather than my lesser suit. ingmar

What are your measurements Dbltailexit, height, weight & waist?

Also, it looks like your avatar is you in your 'stich on the track? If that's so, do you think that the Roadcrafter is sufficient for a trackday now & then? I was wondering if I needed to buy a leather suit for the one or two trackdays I might do yearly.

Aerostitch will take all your measurements over the phone and send you an off-the-shelf suit to try on. You tell them how much to add/subtract from the sleeves and legs, and they make you a custom one based on that. Take the suit they send you and test it out on the R1200S. Should work fine.

That would work, if I actually had my 1200S

Sorry, should have added that my bike is ordered, but not here yet. I'll try it on my Triumph.

I use an elipse in my two piece on the 1100S with no problem. The thing to do is talk to aerostitch, they are very good. I use a 48r top & 44s bottom.

AeroStitch, sent us the wrong size pants before Christmas. When Denise called them and told them what they had done, they shipped the right size pants to us before the wrong sized pants had even left our house. That way we didn't have to pay for shipping. I don't think most company's are that trusting. As Steve Carlton said they will work with you on getting the right size for the type of bike your riding , sport or touring. Good Luck.

Roadcrafter one-piece and R12S

I ride an R1200S and use a Roadcrafter 42S one piece (I wear it over a suit when I ride to work) - no problems at al, very comfortable. It may look dorky (my 10 year old says I look like a postman), but hey 10 pockets, good protection, easy to get on and off - what more can you ask for.

btw: I added the option hip and race back protector for added security.

I live in Switzerland and the Roadcraft service from the US is first rate - any problems or issues they sort out staitght away. I have used the Roadcrafter in temperatures down to -5 degrees C and up to 42 degrees C.

Last year I rode Centopassi (www.centopassi.com) in my one-piece leathers and sweated like a pig ... this year I will definitely wear the Roadcrafter - even though the Italians will refuse to speak with me !

For any of you guys that don't know. Aeorstitch offers a discount to any rider that visits there operation, store have you, in Duluth Minn.. Its interesting, and a nice group of people. These folks really want you to get the right set up. They had one of there employees try to buy my old Stitch from me, I held on to it and purchased new.

Been to 'stich H.Q. Fun place to visit in the summer (June 30th- about July 10th in Duluth). When I visited I didn't need a 'stich, but I did realize that you get a discount, believe its 10%.

I bit too cold & wintery for a Jan. ride up there

I have a stich 46R and is the best for commuting and long touring trips little hot on summer but I ride very confortable always, on the long rain rides the wet spot on the croatch is unnavoidable, if I want to go to the track I use the BMW two piece leather, feels sexier intead of the Michelin man feel with the stich!
No modifications on mine, but I have tall screen and top mounted clipons so I do not lean that far, although I am a 210 lbs and 6'-0" tall, most pounds on the middle!
The stich is one of the best out there!

Just to add a little info: I'm 180#, 5'10", 36" waist. I often use a 'Stitch 42R with the sportbike insert. No problem with several different back protectors-the one I've found most comfortable is made by Bohn specifically for this suit. I used this gear for some 20 trackdays or so on an R1100S and I think you'll have no problems initially. Once you start to go fast and have to shift position on the bike very precisely you may find that the suit feels like it's slowing your responses-at least that was my excuse when I bought the Dainesse. Seriously, no problems and great protection: I eventually had a pretty exciting highside with no damage(to me, that is).

TMT, when i was measured for my one piece Aero, we did it on the phone, got all the adders for sportier etc, me on 1100s, Female Unit taking measurements with Aero fitment lady on the phone coaching, not a race suit or Vanson 2 piece but very effective mods and well worth the extra money and hassles.
All the custom adders ran the cost up but really did make the thing very useable on a variety of bikes for general riding.
Call them if you want to modify what you have they are very accomodating if possible.
