I like all sorts Markus but LOVE dancing and the loved the other things that go along with dance music, for a while and um, yeah I think some DJ's do some pretty tricky stuff but if you weren't looking for it you wouldn't find it ... the trickyness I mean - mind you being still in my 30's ... the late 80's were prime time for both dancing and

though I wish I could get back a good supply of endorphines into my system ... lol

EMI's pressings were like the box of chocolates back then.
...nice story !...

...I became a 'big boy' in the eighties, and I don't know what it is, but I still believe we had the best music by far in those days !...

...for example, T. Dolby, Grace Jones, Howard Jones, Sylvester (Do You Wanna Funk, etc), The Simple Minds were huge in those years, Gary Numan, Pink Floyd (The Wall), Madness, The Specials, U2, The Jam, The Pretenders, The Talking Heads, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and the list goes on, and on, and on...

Never expected anyone on this forum to be into electronic or dance music... Hate the stuff personally.

I always find the words electronic and music to be contadictory but hey, call me old fashioned.
As an old muso, if 1 or more people can't recreate the sound live with instruments and vocals, I would seriously hesitate to call them musicians.

IMO, a techniction programming a computer, sampling (ripping off) classic R&B tunes and putting an electronic drum beat to the track that monotonously doesn't change for 6 minutes - well, talent or good software?!?
...so..., I presume you don't like these...

...etc. etc. etc. ...

The rest of the story with EMI was that they had a "delete sale" every year at the factory and my friends and I hauled out thousands of surplus CDs and albums over the years at a buck or two each. I still have probably a hundred albums that I've never heard yet that I couldn't pass up. Some Beatles, all the dozens of Beach Boys recordings, all the EMI/Capitol and satellite company artists. So for instance I have at least three different versions of Dolby's Science tune due to errors in Master Tape selection. All gone now, as EMI outsourced our factory to some contract company in Indiana a couple years ago. A lot of people out of work even still from that closing. To bring this to topic, of course we have all the Moto Music collections that Capitol marketed too, some in real leather folders !

Jon, I think it's clever - but clever editing not musically. As for you being in the minority - that's a good thing IMO. Means you're an individual and not just following everyone else off the cliff...

Now this guy is a pure musician. He feels it and makes it look deceptively easy...

Yes Ron, you would be right. C'mon on, the first 2 are almost the same, clones! Where's the originality? Look, I get it that this stuff get's people moving on a dance floor - but after 2 hours of the same beat, the same computerised modulations - I can't LISTEN to it, you know enjoy it at a deeper level. There are no poetic lyrics to move me; no resonating tones; no pure vocals from a talented singer; and no unspoken sychronisation of a bunch of talented musos doing it live, first time, everytime - even when improvised or jamming.

I consider myself pretty broad in musical taste - everything from classical, blues, jazz, R&B, punk, rock (a very broad genre these days), soul, Hip Hop, etc. - I'll be open minded to. And let's not kid ourselves, all studio recorded music is computer enhanced these days. BUT, totally computerised, synthesised (including vocals) stuff - just doesn't have any 'feel' and is way too predictable, IMO.

BMW Roundel musico-el-ride-o

Lots of riding tunes out there,..my mp3 player is jammed w/ pink Floyd, nothing beats the soothingly powerful depth of David Gilmour on guitar in my helmet speakers,....
Maybe I misunderstood the question.

...I admit..., I like the sometimes somewhat 'strange' sound of Steely Dan...

...and think The Nightfly made by Donald Fagen solo is one of the best albums ever, but I can appreciate this Steely Dan song also very much...

We're gonna break out the hats and hooters
When Josie comes home
We're gonna rev up the motor scooters
When Josie comes home to stay
We're gonna park in the street
Sleep on the beach and make it
Throw down the jam till the girls say when
Lay down the law and break it
When Josie comes home

When Josie comes home, so good
She's the pride of the neighborhood
She's the raw flame, the live wire
She prays like a Roman, with her eyes on fire

Jo would you love to scrapple
She'll never say no
Shine up the battle apple
We'll shake 'em all down tonight
We're gonna mix in the street
Strike at the stroke of midnight
Dance on the bones till the girls say when
Pick up what's left by daylight
When Josie comes home

When Josie comes home, so bad
She's the best friend we never had
She's the raw flame, the live wire
She prays like a Roman with her eyes on fire
