I also fear they will be just keep on building two wheeled dumper trucks called "GS" or "RT".

My conclusion is only a bit different from yours:
I'm gonna buy a 2nd R1200S instead of a HP2S in addition to my existing R1200S.
Lars, is the second 12S for parts?

If you scroll back you will see where he said he bought the rear end of an R1100S to graft onto an R12S so he can tour with his girl.

With all this talk about rear ends on both the HP2 Sport and the R12S...........if anyone wants to see how fast either will really go.......I have a NEW, never even unwrapped, 2.62 rear end that will fit either bike. I paid full pop......which was LOT........but the project is never going to happen, as time has caught up with me. Any reasonable offer from a Pelican brother will be gladly accepted. New, in the factory box and plastic. Complete, ready to bolt up, and go. I believe that both the HP2 and the R12 S have 2.75 ratios as stock.

I did some research and the lowest US VIN I can find is 016 (sold in CO, then ND and finally MN) and the highest is 516 (CO, then CA).

So, unless a cargo sank in the middle of the Atlantic with a few dozens R1200S onboard, there should have been 500 R1200S titled in the US.

How many are left today?

2008-2009 HP2 Megamoto 93

I would have guessed a much higher number. That means the R12S is as rare in the US as the HP2S

I think I came up with that same number when I bought my second R1200S, which is Vin No# ZP30512

My first one I had bought, was ZP30072

I would guess the really early numbers, like ZP30001 were probably gifts to some friend of the company. So the question would be which were real sales?

@ckcarr I checked a few VIN between 001 and 015 and there is no record of them having been titled. Now I did not check all 15 of them, just may be 3 or 4.

Interestingly 016 first title record dates from 2012.

The BMW dealer in Raleigh told me less than 500 were sold in the US. I had read on this forum that the # was 432 in the US The real question is how many have been wrecked/totaled or simply parted out in the past 14 yrs.

Mine is ZP30131
