Lennies Rocket Sprockets
I have read everything I could find here and anywhere else on them. I went back and forth with Lenny 5 times and today I stopped wondering and ordered them. If they work nearly as good as everyone says I'll be happy. I have read a few times people felt it was the best thing they did to their bike. Lenny answered any question I asked him. I have a 2004 R1100s. I can't wait to get them in.

Only thing I would add no matter how confident you are that the install is correct rotate the motor slowly by hand for a few revolutions to confirm the timing lines back up.
This has nothing to do with Lennie's sprockets. Last edited by wiggledbits; 03-19-2013 at 11:22 AM.. Reason: typo |

Yep. Puts the power where you will use it.

Is the same sprockets for both R1100S and R1200 Motors..?
I only see one set of sprockets on Lennie's site... Also wondering if the addition of these sprockets would have any effect on fueling, flat spots ect, as right now i don't have any... Cant see how, but maybe some with experience maybe know better... Totally stock R1100S 04 twin spark at present... Cheers Jeremy |

You need to let Lennie know that they are for the R12, but the sprockets themselves are the same... just one slight difference from what I remember... but an important one.
No difference in the fueling, really... but I have been running my R12 with a Techlusion. The 11S, however, I never ran with one and it was superb. The sprockets just shift the torque curve lower in the RPM range.... makes for more fun and easier riding, unless you are at home in the upper RPM range. In that case, you are riding the wrong bike, anyway.

I disagree Ralf, I throughly enjoy this motor at full song while riding the Ga., N.C., Tenn. mountains & can't imagine how it would work as well at lower revs through these twisty roads as you're using the motor to control the bike, basically the same way you would on a track. I would have to try one with the sprockets installed on these same roads to become a believer, but running at speed at lower revs would be scary to me as I don't think the engine braking would be enough to keep me out of trouble coming into corners.

Well for me, i cant imagine running up to redline on this motor, makes plenty of vibes above 4k rpm, and i find Im short shifting, depending on the mood and ride, using up to 6k, But not had it long, and just getting into it, so yes riding the torque curve mostly at present...
Perfect for a set of sprockets me thinks...:-) Jeremy |

The sprockets still let you run in the upper RPM range, btw. and it is virtually unnoticeable that you are missing something, but the bike itself (IMHO) is no fun there, as the engine is just not refined enough to sustain such a riding style. Extensively ride a Duc or even an I-4 and you'll understand what I mean.

Well sgoodwin it's obvious that you like to wring it's neck just like a racer. And I'm not aware of any boxer racers who ever used the sprockets. So maybe these sprockets won't suit your style. For me, I like operating in the center of the power band where I have something on either end and so the sprockets on my R12S were perfect. I loved normal mid-gear passing.....like kicking a beer can.

Finally ordered a set. Don't know how long it takes to get here, but I hope I can install them before the Georgia Mountain Rally. Now that I'm retired, I finally have time to do some things to the bike.

Install is not that complicated, Mark... I have a few tips on my website, albeit for the install on the R12. May or may not help you.
Modifications to my BMW R1200GS

Twisty - I got mine just the other day and expect to get to the install this week-end. Can't wait.
Mark - You should get the sprockets in about 7 days.

Hi all.
There is only the one product the BP9 that is used on all single in head cam motors from the R850 to the R1200. I used to run my bike in 4th gear from 4,000 to 8,000 rpm for the fast open road riding with smooth roll on roll off throttle movement and found that the engine braking was sufficient to control the bike for the curve I was riding through. In the slower curves I found that the higher torque in the lower rpm range helped drive hard off corners and added to the 'smile on the dial' excitement. I developed these in 1999 or 2000 and have sold hundreds of sets with only 3 sets I know of being removed due to the difference in what the customers wanted. One broke due to a cam chain tensioner failure at revs and it was my brothers R1150R and that is all I know about. As you can see there are many customers here more than happy with their installs and over time they pay for themselves with the fuel savings. I had one GS customer here call to complain he had to buy a new bigger helmut to fit his grin in. ![]() I thank all my happy customers for their custom.

Mark, in terms of "Bang for the Buck"... it is by FAR, the best thing one can buy for these bikes, when it comes to improving rideability.
I have done both, my 11S and then 12GS and I wouldn't want to go back. I have added a Techlusion and an exhaust and when people with comparable bikes ride mine, the consensus is usually "That is how it should be"... No complaints about top end speed, although I rarely run over 100 mph these days. She still makes it up to about 130 MPH with ease, but why? With the sprockets, it comes down to what riding style you prefer. If you drive the boxer the way it lends itself to, the added fun and ease of riding swiftly, is well worth the effort and the few bucks you spend. YMMV

I am sure someone has uploaded a dyno chart in the past illustrating the change after installing Lennie's Rocket Sprockets. Since this thread is sort of fresh and numerous people are asking about the change in performance, perhaps someone could post their before and after dyno plots?
I wonder if the change everyone is raving about is evident by a significant change in area under the torque curve? ![]() I am not being a hater more so interested in seeing if the feelings of the butt dyno are supported by a measurable change in results on the chassis dyno. I applaud everyone who has installed the sprockets and is enjoying the change. Peace -
