Engine Replacement

I need help on the bad engine seals in the 1997, 1998 boxsters . I'm looking at a BOXSTER with a replacement engine(EXCHANGE). Is there a date when Porsche stop putting the same problem engine back in for the fix? Thanks for all of the input on salvage titles!
Aloha

The new style seal went into production on February 22, 2000.

oil leaks?

What is the symptom of the bad seals?

Is that why I have oil leaks on my 1997?

I noticed the biggest leak is from the pan seal, but there is oil coming from somewhere on top of the engine that I cannot see from below.

I guess the new style seals did not help as there are still new ones 03's, 02's etc having them replaced for leaks.
