Well, after a litre of regular skyrocketed to 81.9 last week in Victoria, BC, pissing everyone off, it rose again today to 84.9!!! My baby's Premium is nearly a buck a litre!
Tell me I'm not the only one suffering in the country!

the price for premium has jumped from about $1.65 to $1.99 US per US gallon since end of November. after all the converting, that's about 82 cents/liter $C now. I remember paying 79.9 cents a liter for premium in northern Ontario about 5 years ago. ... but, i can't b*tch too much, working in the oil/natural gas pipeline biz. maybe this will kick-start a few projects that the Kyoto-accord trash-canned. max

Still 73.9 here for regular.
How long it will last, who knows. Premium is still at a premium price though.

Well, our glorious Premier just announced an extra 3 cents per litre gas tax to fund roads and bridges (are we finally getting that bridge to the mainland?) which will result in 87.9 for regular if it doesn't rise again between now and March 1st....

From talking to people that I know out west, Victoria, to be specific, they don't want that bridge.
Building a bridge that long doesn't seem realistic to me, buy hey, if the Japanese can built an airport in the middle of the ocean, anything is possible. BC is just about as bad as Saskatchewan for taxes.

I feel your pain. Gas in Regina is sitting at 85.9. Running premium in the 914 is gonna be expensive this summer. Zehnd, where abouts in SK are you? And where is gas still that cheap in SK?

North Battleford. A couple stations have jumped up to 85.9, while some are still at 73.9. We have a Murphy Gas Station here, they are in bed with Walmart and they seem to hold prices down. We had prices as low as 43.9 this year. Has to be hard on some of the independents thou.

Salmon Arm posted $0.76 today for Regular. Saw an $0.84 sign in Kamloops yesterday.
Lived on the Island for a few years, hate that Ferry. How about the Billion that was spent on the super ferries? Could have built a bridge easily for that!!!! I'm friends with the guy that built the PEI bridge, only cost a billion and it's twice the design challenge; as well the entire thing didn't come out of the tax payers pockets. (Except the salaries of the million gov't inspectors) The Vanc. Isl. bridge would span to 7 different Islands with the longest span being about 5 miles (?if memory serves me?), and the waters are much less severe. The proposal was put forth years ago for much less than a billion - but those Islanders must be inter-breeding or something? They didn't want it!!!! Or so it was stated. Would have been a one way toll bridge, but still less than a ferry trip (much less) and about a sixth of the time required. My parents still live there and we get to "enjoy" a ferry ride once in awhile now and then, it's OK for tourists, but the mainstream? Oil companies are skinnin us alive! Watch out......

If they do eventually build a bridge, rumour has it that it would run from around Nanaimo which is about 2-2.5 hours from Victoria making the trip actually longer than taking the ferry from where I live! Still, most Islanders hate the idea as they think we'll be overrun by Vancouver residents but so what? With a hardline to the mainland, maybe the gas would be cheaper!

It's 79.9 at the cheap stations here. I was going to put a six in my 914 but forget it now, I'll stick with a four.
I was also going to buy a DVD, a digi-cam, toys, tools and some other goodies, but forget that as well. Nice little ripple effect on the ol' economy. |

I'll start to belly-ache when we get to European price levels.

Left town on the 7th...prices were $0.724 (that's with $0.035 discount). Drove to nearly California and payed between $1.38 and $1.79 US a gallon. Filled up today (here) payed $0.764 (less $0.035 discount). It's a game around town....mark prices up and give discount at cash reg.

actually it's produced here also....
gas companys call it supply & demand pricing....if everyone took one day a week and didn't drive or fly prices would drop. Figure this one out....diesal is a byproduct of manufacturing gasoline, so why does it cost more than gas?

Diesel is more expensive than gas in Winnipeg? It is still 69.9 here in BC and is always a bit less that regular. Is it taxed more in MB??

Deisel is about 2-3 cents a liter more than reg gas here. A buddy who trucks for a living just told me they have uped the fuel surcharge to $0.16 per mile...I guess that explains why lettuce went from $0.89 to $1.19 a head this week
