I hear Afghanistan is nice.

I spent a few days diving the world's second biggest reef in Belize. Ambergris Caye. Tropical paradise.....sort of. Even on the island, it was not safe alone at night. No amenities except basics. Great reef. I wouldn't move there. The mainland is even worse.

Dated a female who volunteered there on her summers at a wildlife zoo. (Was a vet)
Very dangerous place outside of the compound. You'll hear of Americans getting robbed and killed.

The place has never jumped at me to go. Maybe that'll change as I get older.

Last time I knew someone who was going on the lam, as the kids say, he went and took a cook job at a research station in central Alaska. 6 month of cold and dark, away from all of your demons, no chance of getting in trouble, and $40k+ sitting in the bank when you get back to cover some of the legal fees. Alaska might *technically* have extradition with the US but that doesn't mean that some camp up there does.

These countries currently have no extradition treaty with the United States:

Afghanistan, Algeria, Andorra, Angola, Armenia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bosnia and

Herzegovina, Brunei, Burkina Faso, Burma, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cape Verde, the Central

African Republic, Chad, Mainland China, Comoros, Congo (Kinshasa), Congo (Brazzaville), Djibouti, Equatorial

Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Kazakhstan,

Kosovo, Kuwait, Laos, Lebanon, Libya, Macedonia, Madagascar, Maldives, Mali, Marshall Islands,

Mauritania, Micronesia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal,

Niger, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Rwanda, Samoa, São Tomé & Príncipe, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia,

Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu,

Vatican, Vietnam and Yemen.
I've visited 12 of those countries and the place I'd pick to hide out in would be Montenegro, safe, good standard of living, scenic coast with a clear blue sea, mountains with snow in the winter, people are friendly, food was good but you couldn't speak Merican as a lot of people only understand English

I’ll be moving to Belize in about 3 months for a project. Can’t be worse than Kingston - or Oakland for that matter.

Head on a swivel. Don’t do anything stupid. Montego Bay here in Jamaica has a check point with armed military.

Was there last year. Nice adventure vacation! Stayed on the island of Ambergris Cay. Great place to visit but wouldn’t want to live there. People on the island were great friendly people. But it is a 3rd world country with poverty around the corner. Visited the blue hole and the Miyan pyramids both something to see. Not a big tourist country when we went 4 hrs into the country to see the pyramids we went with a guide from the hotel and there were only 10 other people on the hour long boat ride in to the pyramids. We had the whole place to ourselves. Nice but strange.

There’s a country directly north of the continental United Syates that speaks English, accepts the US Dollar easily, where Americans can blend in easily. That country does have an extradition treaty with the US but it’s hard to extradite an American from Canada back to the US. Mexico, for some reason is the country of choice for those on the lam. American fugitives stick out like sore thumbs in Mexico and they’re extradited with great energy and efficiency. France is a nice country. The Balkans are Beautiful and Montenegro is nice.

This reminds me of the awol soldier on reddit last year. Kid wasn't deployable so he decided to freedom fight for pro Ukrainian forces, and ended up in Africa where he was captured by one of countries in the list above. The country ended up giving him up to the American forces where he ended up back in the United States. Funny thing was DFAS was still paying him.

But then there is still the problem that you can only stay for 90 days on a tourist visa. A longer stay requires a temporary residence permit where one of the requirements is a recent "no criminal record" certificate which poses a problem in JB's case

I don't know what your charges are Joe Bob, but you can most likely run any where on the east coast, and live out your life without worries . Colorado will probably not extradite you back. Especially i you keep your nose clean.
I had a friend who ran from some pretty serious drug charges in Florida. He was looking at 8-10. Being only 19 years old at the time, he ran instead of showing up for sentencing .
He went on to live a fairly normal life here. The only problems he had , were, if he got a traffic ticket, it sometimes meant a weekend in the slammer, until Pa, and Fla would communicate. They clearly did not want him back. He was a party guy, and got in all sorts of trouble, and never once did Florida attempt an extradition .
The best advice is to pay your dues, and get past this, but sometimes, we do what we gotta do.
This guy, ended up taking a self inflicted .357 to the chest about 7 years ago. He outran the law, but never outran his own demons .
Best of luck JB.
Ill put you up here in an empty rental if you need to lay low for a bit, and make up your mind.

Just over the border from Wyoming, I'd live in the town with the longest MAIN Street in the world....Island Park....33 miles long. Did it on a snowmobile last winter.......-16 F when I set out the 1st morning of the week long trip........I could hide forever out there.......Population is only 286.
