Ferrari brings a new engine package in hopes of closing the gap to Mercedes and ends up fourth and fifth . When do heads start rolling ?

It's just as sad that the most interesting aspect of all of Formula 1 racing is in the display of money and technology down to the last very last atom, and the least interesting is the time that the cars are on track for the race that all those millions were spent preparing for...

That's an interesting observation. If they didn't go out on track at all, it wouldn't hurt the overall show that much.

Unless you’re Mercedes. Their domination is impressive. Can they finish 1 - 2 every race?

I think the car's potentials are closer than it appears. The difference is in the ability to "turn on "the tires.
Mercedes is able to do it. Ferrari is not. At Red Bull. Max can do it, Pierre cannot. Also, Ferrari need to tap into the Pelican Brain Trust regarding when to pit drivers for new rubber or swap position on track. They let Vettel hold up Leclerc for too many laps while he was handicapped by flat spotted tires, then compounded the error by letting Leclerc hold up his teammate when Vettel was faster. Can't their strategists follow a simple following time differential? I'm glad the FIA has Mercedes' mailing address, so they can just send them the trophies for this season. Best Les

There's no better way to get all the other teams to agree on something than to have one team dominate. Williams, Ferrari, and McLaren have all had dominant periods. Look where they are now.

Indycar race was a lot of fun, lots of passing and strategy with the rain coming. Recorded the F1 race but see no reason to watch it.

I wasted my time watching qualifying, won’t do that again. F1 is as bad or worse than NASCAR

Remember when Williams were bringing engineering solutions to F1 that were so far ahead of the rest of the grid that they were banned?

That was an incredible race. Only caught the end of it, when the rain set in. Pagenaud's run on Dixon was great to watch.

Take the ducts on 2014 Mercedes that were drawing air in at the rear wing and transferring it to the front wing through the entire chassis of the car, down through the front wing supports, etc, then exiting in specific places in the wing structure to reduce drag. |

If he is realizing he cannot drive an F1 car the way he thought he could, that would be a huge blow.

via GP247:
(Gordon) Murray still follows Formula One, and was at the Bahrain Grand Prix, but feels it needs to do “something fundamental” to create more excitement and better racing. “They really have to,” he said. “It´s a drivers´ championship first and foremost.” Murray would like to see less downforce, with tiny wings front and back, and more design freedom in the centre of the car. “We just had so much fun in the days when you could think of an idea, build the parts the next week and go a second and a half a lap quicker at the next grand prix,” he said. “These days its hundreds and hundreds of hours in the wind tunnel and then a tiny little front wing change and you find two-tenths of a second. I find that really difficult to get excited about.” |
