I’ll keep it short.

My Opa was told he had to give up his two favorite vices or he’d be dead in a year.

He tried for a couple of months.

Was misearable.

Decided he’d rather live a year happy than two or more not.

Slipped in the shower shortly after.

He never made it the year and it had nothing to do with his vices but he went happy.

Why not? If you’ve got the money and love the car, might as well enjoy it.

YES

I find it funny that the older I get, the more I think about how many more cars I'll own and what they should be. Honestly, you starting thinking: I'll maybe buy 4 more cars, then 3, then..
If you're a car guy/girl it really makes you think. When I make the decision to buy perhaps the last new fun car I buy, it will be something very special.

Of course in 10 years you'll be asking us: should I buy the new 995?

Buyer signed the contract on the ranch we are selling in Colo. I'm gonna order as soon as we close. Not sure about color and still debating 7 speed or pdk. Prefer the manual but I wonder if my leg wouldn't be happier with the auto in a few years. Thanks for all th reinforcement. I've owned Porsches since 1971 but never a new one. I'm excited!

At 72 I am not far behind you and would consider another Porsche(probably used) in the next two or three years. Having said that my wife has a dibs on another car first as her 2002 Camry should be replaced and will likely get an suv.

Yes if you can afford it go for it! Life is for living.

I'm also 75. Used to be strictly a manual trans car guy. But today? Well, every time I drive some miles of a major arterial into the city of my favorite pool hall? Find myself wishing the car had an automatic. 1/2 hour or more of stop & go will do that to ya. Well, it does to me anyway.

Personally, I was done with P-cars a little over 10 years ago...but if a new one will make you happier than you are now, by all means go for it. I consider a newer car from time to time, asking myself if I'd be any happier than now. The answer is "probably not", so I hang onto the money. Soon enough, I guess my daughter or wife will appreciate that.

That is so cool. The choice of transmission is the only bugaboo - my heart says manual, my brain says pdk.

Enjoy.

Of course you should get one.

Transmission choice. A manual will keep you young. A PDK will make you old.

Naw. PDK is the ultimate gearbox. Auto when you want, manual when not.

The manual should be less trouble to rehab in 20-30 years. The PDK would make ownership most enjoyable. Driving a good DCT is satisfying in a way that manuals can't be.

Do it. You've obviously earned it.

One of my clients said to me recently, "If you don't fly first class, your kids will."
