Am I nuts? Thinking about ordering a new 992 Carrera S.
Is ordering a new model Porsche really a good idea? I keep thinking of 996's and all of the other models that final testing was left up to new owners. The other side of the coin is I just turned 75 and I'd like a few years to enjoy a new Porsche. I'm really interested in the combined wisdom of the Pelican community to help my decision making. Thank you.

Richard, if you are 75 and still in good health plus can afford a new 992, why the hell not?
Go for it and give us a full report. As for the first 996 analogy, that was an early water cooled engine and the 992 is a very gentle evolution of what they were making last year and the year before that. ![]()

You may be nuts, but if you are it’s not because you’re thinking of ordering the new 992. If you have the means I highly recommend it. It is the best of the breed that’s ever been produced. You will not regret the purchase.

My favorite thing about selling new Porsches back in the day was that when someone is buying one, usually things are going pretty well in their life. It was a pleasant energy to be around.

If I am still legally allowed to drive in 2045, I hope to ask a similar question...

Go for it! I'm also 75 and think a guy who has made it as far as we have should find enjoyment where he can.
So, if you think a new P-car would make you happier than you are now, why not?

Yep, you are 100% nuts. But in a good way. Be sure to order it with all the stuff you like or want, and in the colors you want!

I would. I don’t think I made the right choice at the crossroad to get me to a new Pcar when I’m 75.
I’d be lucky to buy yours used. ![]() |

You know posting here only gets you a conformation bias.
At the very worst, suppose the thing is an absolute pig. You hate it! At seventy five, how long do you think buyers' remorse is going to last? ![]() Drive the wee out of that thing! Best Les
