What are those round objects? Anti-vibration/squeal devices?

Not really fixing, just replacing. For my 86 El Camino, it has an OBD1 diagnostic port. Back when I converted it to a throttle body fuel injection, 25+ years ago or so, there were no kits like are on the market today. I cobbled together the parts from a GM 1990 Pickup truck Vin H model and adapted it to my Elky. I had to have a custom chip made for the sensors and the 200 4R transmission to put the transmission into full lockup at 50 MPH.
Anyway, the tool I used to read codes is an Auto X-Ray unit. It worked for many years, and recently I had a CEL light come on, and then go back off. I was curious as to what the code was. My old Auto-X-Ray would not come on, just one beep, and no display. I can short out two pins and get the CEL to blink the code, but that is a pain, and I wanted my tool to work. I found one on EBAY, used of course, and it works perfect. $48 bucks, and it has a case, and several cables even a OBD2 cable. No codes to read after all this time to get the new unit in. Then I had to make a place to hang the new unit and the case it goes in.

We use a baby gate in a hallway to keep the little one and our crazy toy Aussiedoodle separated and the gate we were using was a plastic adjustable one. My wife found a better metal swinging gate at Goodwill yesterday for 7 bucks and I installed it where the old gate would be. The new gate came with extra pieces for different widths, but our passageway is narrow enough that I didn't have to use them. It uses some adjustable spacers that have rubber ends, and as you screw them out, the gate is held fast and secured against a wall or door frame in this case. The adjuster parts have exposed threaded areas that are silver and I didn't like the look of them, so I took some new rubber fuel line hose and cut it to length, split the hose, and wrapped it around the exposed threaded silver part for a finished look. The gate works fantastic, no more sliding a plastic gate out of the way or stepping over it.

I didn’t fix anything today, but I’m getting closer to doing a lot more fixing.
I bought a used Quickjack 7000 SLX. It came with the truck adapters as well. ![]() ![]()

New front struts on my daughter’s GLK350, along with sway bar links. I used the Monroe fully assembled struts because I don’t have a press and hate spring compressors, saved me a ton of time.

Our kitchen sink was draining slow and backing up so I used my drain auger to try to clear out whatever was causing the blockage. I removed the trap in order to gain access to the pipe going into the wall to make things a bit easier. Well, the auger goes out 25ft but didn't reach the blockage. Scrolling around YouTube I discovered something called a "drain bladder" and Harbor Freight had two sizes of them so I got both. I attached the smaller bladder to the garden hose/"hose pipe" and put it into the pipe under the sink and had my wife turn on the water to the hose. The bladder swells up to form a seal and there is a tiny hole in the end that acts as a jet. The water pressure builds up and pushes against the blockage until it washes the blockage away!!! The things worked like a charm. I went outside and opened up the clean out to see water flowing like a little stream through the line to the street. I then switched out to the larger size bladder and put it into the clean out and washed it out as well just for peace of mind. The small one was $6.99 and the larger one was $9.99, a whole lot less than the cost of calling Roto-Rooter!!! I love it when things work!!!

Always wondered if those worked!
Prep for paint is time consuming..... in general, when it comes to rag covered a/c, well its a seemingly never ending vortex. I check, and double check tapes doilies, etc then clean with a alcohol mixture then scuff with scotch-brite, then wipe with a tack cloth before shooting. The shoot is a good coss-coat, it'll cure up between now and Monday, which should make for a good sanding session, quite a bit of what was shot today will come off and allow for a smother transition from tapes to the rib bays... Monday should be a rewarding day. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I know exactly what you mean. Might as well cover them in pollen so the bees have something to take back to the hive.
