Well, it will be interesting, but as others have stated, lack of engine sound will make it less fun to watch. The sounds of engines roaring has always been an important part of racing, hell, my Mother still has her Sounds of Sebring albums in a box somewhere
When Audi started racing the diesel, it was so much quieter than the other cars racing, we discussed the impact of the sounds of the engines then.

Agree. It was not a robust note.

Motorsport for the deaf, engine sounds make up at least 75% of the show
In the mid 90's in my spare time I had the job of being the technically responsible adult looking after a grid of F1 inshore powerboats. When we raced in Germany the 'green party' kicked up a stink about noise pollution Every boat had to have a silencer fitted to the 3ltr 2 stroke engines, despite tons of over taking each lap, without the noise all the drama was lost Unfortunately no shock and awe is the future I still miss the 18000 rpm V10 days

Strangely, the Nissan GTP ZX turbo was quiet, too, but for some reason (because it was kicking ass in GTP competition, or maybe there were so many manufacturers using different engines to try and win) it's sound gave me goose bumps. Or a chubby. Both.

As some pals and I discussed at RA during the diesel days, may need to add loudspeakers with engine sounds to keep fans interested. This during an ALMS race when the Audis could barely be heard and the Porsche was just screaming into turn 5 and screaming on the uphill to 6. Audis were just a soft thudding sound.
I will glance at E again once Porsche is active. Also miss the 18,000 RPM days.

I tried to watch an E race a year or 2 ago but only got thru about 20 minutes of it. To me, it is full-size slot cars - the handling, the acceleration, the noise (or lack thereof). And there was a lot of banging around between cars (intentional to add 'excitement' I guess?). The logical extension to the series is to simply remove the drivers from the cars and have them drive remotely from the pitlane to make an even better connection with the young audience they are targeting. And it seems inevitable anyway for driver safety.
