Well all USMC HTH trainers are cross trained, and all Marines are trained in HTH combat.. No exceptions.. They al need to certify minimum belt and green for any kind of infantry MOS, and grey belt for any kind of active combat role.

I'm pretty sure that last includes the MSG Mos, but it's not like it takes years and years of training to get that grey belt.. couple of weeks maybe..

First , I don't believe there is a course that focuses on transitioning from weapons to HTH
And second, I don't believe there is a course specficially to deal with being bumrushed and having to revert to HTH combat.

Neither makes any sense because 1 , well drop yer gun if it's out of ammo, curse, and start your HTH combat.. There's no secrets to doing that and 2 if you are bum rushed by a horde that overwhelms the available fire arms, you are going to be in major trouble where no amount of HTH training will save you. Look at what happened in Benghazi (not a real embassy).

The Real protection for an Embassy is the Static protection, the walls, the gates, the infrastructure. That's what keeps things safe, along with Security surveillance and the Marines behind it with their weapons.

If for any reason the primary walls or gates are breached, they fall back to the inner protection of the building itself.

US Embassy's are built strong these days, they are like bloody castles and they have evacuation procedures and facilities (roof top access suitable for big helicopters).

I cannot imagine that being overwhelmed by irregular fighters who want to engage in HTH combat. It's not going to happen.

And if it would happen, no HTH training will work because the amount of force to break through would mean everybody in there is going to be retraiting back in the building, or up the roof for extract. They will be armed to the teeth and shoot their last bullet and hit with rifle butt or stick bayonets.

Why would HTH even be discussed at that point???If they get that close that you think your rifle can't be used , they would transition to pistol... and if they are that close that pistol no longer worked , they are doomed.

Me think you misunderstood what your Marine guy instructor told you.
And what he meant was that the MSG MOS has a requirement to get a higher belt of MCMAP.
And something else got pulled out of context

Guys, guys, guys - this thread is about mastering the handgun, not the internet. No one cares who wins your argument.

I'm just pointing out that it doesn't make logical sense

I was hoping the vid had more on site alignment and trigger pull.

no expert by any means.
I have taught 2 women to shoot, my wife and my girlfriend.
what I had them focus on was sight alignment.
make the front sight clear, concentrate on the front sight, keep the target blurry and the front site clear and that alone had them shooting better than 90%of the people that are in the range when they are.
trying to keep them thinking of the front site I think helps to reduce the flinch.
also focusing on the site "after" the gun fires helped them.

its just my opinion but I don't think most people that shoot have no clue as to how to sight the gun.

I think the top rt was the girlfriends first time.
range varied from 10yrd to 25 yrds.
that was with a 380 and a 9mm

Years ago when I was shooting multiple times per week, the drills that I had were really simple. I am not sure what we called it but it was feeling for the target, i.e. "proximity" shooting (term is probably wrong). This is a drill where, after being very familiar with your carry weapon you start to bring the weapon from a low ready on a 21 foot target and just smoothly pull the weapon up on target where you think is center mass. After doing this a number of times you get pretty good and placing lethal rounds.

Pretty much what Rob Leatham is teaching. It is surprising how accurate you are when you get the "feel" of the weapon.

During Navy quals (back in the day) we had three courses of fire:
20 rounds slow fire 25 yard line
10 rounds timed fire 15 yard line (5 rounds in 20 seconds 2 times)
10 rounds rapid fire 15 yard line (5 rounds in 10 seconds 2 times)
I don't recall the target, but it was a profile target that was pretty close to life-size.

Never trained for three courses of fire, trained for one. Find your "shooter's rhythm" at 25 yards and have at it. Mine was 13 seconds for three rounds. Even on the slow fire, five rounds, 13 seconds.

The newer courses of fire seem to be of better value to the shooters.

Travis Haley likes to do the 2-2-4-2-2 drill and a modified one for old school sidearms like the 1911.

Starts at 3:35
