Pickup trucks - lifted or lowered?

Another thread got me thinking about this. Assuming it is just for looks and you don't have a need to change the stance of a truck, which way would you go?
I stole this picture from another thread here by A930rocket. His truck is mildly lifted.

Personally, if I were to go to the trouble to change from stock, I would lower my truck an inch. Saw one on the road the other day and I really liked it.

Same truck lowered an inch or so. (excuse the quickie photoshop job)

If I had to do one, it would be lowered-I'm 5'5. Another option is leveled-the hd trucks sit high in the rear unloaded, so some folks (po of my 350 included) raise just the front enough so that the truck sits level.

Really depends on what you're doing. If it's a PU with 4X4 - I like a little lift and sitting level all way 'round like above. 2wd? - sittin lowered..........

Lifted trucks are great if you actually, really do go off road often, or have to wade through a low water bridge or live in an area with deep snow. For just driving around town, it is just simply stupid. Same with a lowered truck, it makes it useless for doing what a pickup is designed to do, haul stuff.

I see plenty of lifted trucks around here. With super noisy mud and snow tires, and a ride like, well a dump truck.

I have noticed a few "slammed" pickups and they just look simply insane.

Just the opinion of one grumpy old man yelling at clouds. Stay off my lawn.

I prefer a leveled truck over lifted or stock. Lowered seems useless to me. My leveled (front lifted 2.75”) Chevy is great in everyday driving as well as off road.

Slight lift, highboy style for me. Can't imagine lowering a truck (unless its a hotrod or something).

Level or mild lift. Except for a sports truck but that’s just sorta pointless in my book.

Stock is about as low as I would want to go, though I did see a lowered truck that had the dually bed on it, but just one, giant, pair of rear tires...

^^this for me. I've modified (lifted) pretty much every truck/SUV I've ever owned. I even leveled my current 2002 beater Tundra...

My brother's C10 project is lowered a tad.

His dually is stock and only sits level with about 1,000#'s in the rear.

My son leveled out his RAM 1500 Hemi when he had it.
I've never owned a pickup truck myself and only feel the urge to get one when gas prices go down.

I've had 3 4Runners that I did an inch or 2 suspension lift over the years. Nothing but a PITA.

My Tundra will stay stock.

The 4Runners did look cool though.

Timely thread, I just dropped off my F150 to have Bilstein 5100's installed. The stock shocks on these suck, rear end bounces around on uneven surfaces and turns.

The fronts have 4 settings, 2" being the highest and making the truck level. I'm going with 1.75" to give a bit of rake and also the fact that i tow trailers every now and then. Don't want to look like one of those "Glamis/909 Boyz" with my front end up in the air.

Here's my son's truck getting the brakes done. I think he misses it a lot more than he lets on.

His Denali is OK, but it isn't a Hemi.

lowered for a 2wd truck... you ain't going to be doing much offroad.

4wd. I like to keep stock. I have gone lifted route, and it's too much of a PITA to keep everything from not being overstressed....

2wd dropped an inch or two would not bother me. Same as a 4x4 lifted an inch or two. Lifting a 4x4 to put 35 series tires on 22" wheels? Kill it with fire. Lifting a truck to put 44" tires and not even hitting a fire road with it? I think we need to have a talk.

I like this for a factory hot rod.

Considering all the Porsche pictures I have, I could only find one picture of my last truck. Lowered 2/4 but these are stock wheels with snow tires vs the black wheels with Michelin Lattitude Sport tires I'd run in Houston.

What a great truck!

I've got a black Gen 1 which is stock but will have a mild lift one day

The white Gen 2 is lifted an 1.5" with Old Man Emu shocks/springs, handles very well for a truck
