I am like you, Scott, never touch the PSM button. I am such idiot that I need it to save my bacon. I don't have PASM so if I don't have it, I wouldn't miss it. I have those Bilstein PSS something. For the street, it more then good enough for me. My problem with that car is tires. The rears last about 8000-10,000 miles. Its me, not the car. That much I know.

I am almost never in Sport Plus. Heck, I seldom use my paddle shifters. Shifting is normally done with my right foot. Get in it and it goes but there is that slight moment before it shifts. With paddle shifters, it much faster and crisp. Love that crisp shifting in Sport

Good call on engine mode, I dunno. Since I didnt touch anything I assume I drove in normal but didnt think to check. See what little I know about these things? My experience was 100% as described, frequent shifts seeminging nonstop. I used the paddles a few times just to see and doubt I would ever touch them. My only previous experience with a pdk was on track so apples/oranges to my recent street drive. On track it was just amazing, shifting so fast it was pretty clear a manual gearbox was antiquated in comparison.

I'm used to driving a manual in traffic so I coast a lot and try to keep shifting to a minimum, at least in the normal 0-10mph commute. The pdk had a completely different approach. Something I'm still smiling about the cayman is how well it took a traffic circle and a few highway ramps. Maybe 7/10ths, if that, hey I'm on the street!, but it was so solid and planted and also quick to change direction, plenty of beans .. I really like it.

Now I want to try a ~2009, hopefully manual.

I wish i cold hardwire mine with PSM off permanently..
I always turn it off... I drive on country farm roads or track days, and if i leave that crap on i have to replace my rear brake pads every 2 months.

I do admit, The 17 inch 235 tires in the rear give way a lot more gradually then wide 18 or 19 inchers with 265 in the rear would...
It's one reason why I don't think i'll ever go bigger on mine, they are much more forgiving at the edge... wider tires are good for extra grip, but when they give out, it's at higher speeds and much much snappier...

All this talk bout caymans, been jonesing for a wider wing in the rear.
There's the strosek style bolt on replacement, And ordered one from China from a reseller that has stellar reviews on ebay...

Carbon Carbon

Not sure if I'll leave it on permanently, or not and just for Track days.
Most likely I'll eventually get another 987 as lightened track Cayman ...

Never. It'll shift into 7th eventually in Sport mode. In normal mode, on the highway, if I want to actually accelerate better than a fully loaded dual trailer Semi, I need to be in Sport mode. Normal just refuses to downshift until my foot is 3/4 of the way down. Hate it.

Speaking of...

I was in the C4S leading our friends in their rental BMW X3 coming down 99 through the Central Valley, and got pushed into a Floor it or lose the space situation, and my friends told me the car went from no sound to "Oh man, yep, we heard you get on it!"

Get on the throttle with these cars and they make plenty of that wonderful Flat 6 music.
