I spent 2 summers in southern Spain, Andalucia. It was odd.

If I went into town later than 11, I was screwed, everything was closed. It didn't open back up until 3. Dinner? The restaurants open at 10pm. It was very interesting to see the culture. I was in college and my dad was in the Navy. I worked in the officer's club doing dishes. Everyone else in the kitchen was a Spanish national. Most of them spoke decent English, but no matter what, the one thing that every one of them was guaranteed to know how to say in English even if they didn't know another phrase or word was "take it easy."

My first experience with topless beaches was in France in 1986. I'm expecting beautiful women with great tits. However, there were allot of gramdmothers with sagging ones. It was kinda a let down.

I have a zippered, wallet sized pouch that a fabric shopping bag unfolds from. People where I got it (either Spain or France) took them to the market to do their daily shopping. I always thought it might go over here, except people here usually buy several bags worth when they go shopping. The topless beaches in France weren't anything spectacular, since we have a nude beach right here in the S.D. area. I used to go there in the '70s. AFAIK it's still going strong.

Roundabouts! Much more sensible and efficient than 4-way stop intersections.

Argh, do you not have roundabouts. It's all about traffic flow, flow baby, flow.

They exist in the northeast US as a semi-common installation and I’ve seen them in a few other locations as well (unusual). The problem is people in the USA don’t know what a “yield” sign means and are incapable of using circles effectively. They either slam on their brakes and treat the merge point as a stop or they just barge in, cutting off traffic already in the circle. Of course there’s never any enforcement either...

Thankfully I don’t live there anymore so I’ll take my occasional 4-way stops.

We might need those soon. Lots of places are outlawing single use plastics like straws.

Betamax was a much better format than VHS.
